Undervolt testing (0,806 V at 1800 MHz) barely any difference in speed, but power usage is around 60W lower!

Get the fastest Intel CPU with a liquid hydrogen cooling team to run it, you'll be golden.

I speaking for myself, in gaming I'm okay with RTX 2080Ti Strix for time being, will wait on 3090 reviews and then decide, because getting 3080 now is no point because I would gain something like 15-20% in gaming, on other hand in rendering Ampere showed performance which I expected at first place

Will wait on RTX 3090 for now

    Hope this helps

    Thanks, Jura

Great review! Thanks for all the hard work!

So it appears that 10GB memory is going to be an issue in the long run? I was sold on 3080, but now I am leaning toward 3090 again for memory.

Looking at the power consumption rise relative to the performance gain relative to the die shrink it actually looks like we have quite an average, almost sub-par generation on our hands here.

Not really, looked at another sites perf/watt chart (TPU) and 3080 was best at 1440p & 4k!

    *Spets beat me to it.

Amd card will be much more efficent. Nvidia made a mistake going with sams 8nm.

I can't load the review right now. How does it appear 10GB will be an issue?

I just don't think most games are designed to scale to that high of a framerate. At some point, during the creation of the frame, the GPU is waiting on something that clearly isn't being sped up by just adding massive amounts of shaders. Is it the CPU? Is it something on disk? No idea but it's pretty clear that a bunch of games are just smashing into bottlenecks on this card at lower resolutions (sub 4K). FS2020 is just like lol.

Would be funny if Zen 3 raises 4k perf by a few fps in FS2020.

Yeah these monitors over 144hz just don’t make sense unless you’re a pro gamer and running fairly low impact games like CS:GO or Overwatch.

1440p and even more so 1080p are the most common displays right now but this card and the new consoles are going to push those resolutions up. In a few card generations we’ll start to see less and less performance gains on high refresh rate 4k monitors as well while 8k will see bigger gains. It’s just the way of PC gaming.

edit: Oh and also, it’s entirely possible that this DirectStorage technology could eliminate CPU bottlenecks altogether. We’ll just have to wait and see.

I doubt the 3090 will be much better at FS2020. Like 5fps more @4k maybe..

Absolute monster. Faster by 50%-100% than my 2080. Incredible card. I'll still wait for a CPU upgrade to go with it, no rush.

If the AMDs claim of "50% perf per watt improvement" proves to be accurate, RDNA2 shouldn't have a problem at least matching 3080 performance.

    Impressive performance nonetheless.

I do not want to imply, but saying, that you are deliberately exagerating.
The 2080ti to 3080 level of performance increase is new. 980ti to 1080 wasn't that great, and 1080ti to 2080 wasn't there at all.
240fps are hard to do in general. The more the game grows in complexity and it will start to get also cpu bound. 240fps are a lot.
If you want to play at 240fps, you can't with the newer titles. Seems the norm.
You can probably already play CSGO at 240fps with a 1080ti. And those are the few games in which you can do it.

The 3080 is a great step over the 2080ti and will allow for most games to run at 1440p 100 or 120hz. And that is great.

The 3090 will be really marginally better, like exactly what the shader count allow for in percentage. 24gb won't make a difference right now.

Jayztwocents made a good point in his review. Instead of dropping the money on a new mobo and cpu (and maybe RAM) you could buy a new display and avoid the bottleneck.
