I question contact area between wires from connector and PCB. Is it really just 2 points due to verticality?

    I got a good idea.
Lets make the connection susceptible to fail but fitting it this way.
that's a really bad way to fit this.
i can see these being pulled out of the pcb

I'm a bit concerned by the verticality of the connector, you usually have to force a bit for those power connectors and in this case you would have to be extra careful.

Put adapter in, don't touch it in card lifetime.

Weird that they say the adapter is included when all the electrical engineers in the other thread said it would be impossible. /s

Yes, evga's power link does exactly the same.

Isn't it funny how all those standardization organizations base max connector currents on wire thickness, and then someone takes it and lets sum of all those go through one pair of wires?
Now, in RC, I can pull 30A+ like nothing through one pair of wires, but they are much thicker than what this connector has. And considering that solder between connector and PCB becomes single point of failure, I do not like it very much. Hope people will not wiggle connector much when unplugging.

In worst case, wiggling connector will damage PCB.
@Denial : Not impossible. Just not very wise. There is inherited risk for not so top of the line PSUs.

It depends solely on how much power the card is going to require. If it's a new connector but still within the specs of two old connectors, it's a situation of nothing changing since cards have been using two old connectors for many years.

Nevertheless, I'm going to pat myself on the back for predicting there will be a simple adapter if the new connector is truly used. Anything else would have been insanity, especially since the cards should start appearing in less than a month.

So we will get next vacuum cleaners, bigger and bigger TDP was always way to hell.. Unless they will come with really generation leap in cooling like closed water loop for everyone, or some liquid metal or something like that.

While card is bigger, its cooling ability is very nice due to design.

For a triple-slot card, I should hope the cooling design would be nice.

I heard that the 12pin power was for Founders Edition cards only and the AIB partners can do what they will as long as their version of the cards meets the power requirements. Nvidia has yet to clarify if this is indeed correct or not.
