"Big Navi" won't need that huge cooler. If it is a 80CU chip, it would be less than twice the size of the 5700XT. Almost half of the RTX 3900. That also affects power consumption and heat.

If it is a 62CU chip (which I believe will be more likely) physically same size as the Xbox X series APU (the APU is 54CU with 2CU cut off plus CPU etc subsystems) so a standard cooler will do because it wouldn't need that much power.

Shouldn't be a problem for my aircompressor.

    I'm hoping my 620W PSU can handle a 3070 or 3060...

Depends on the brand/model and age.

With rumours pointing towards nvidia launching first they are gonna charge a premium for that and as AMD and Intel launch prices will change, as always wait a while see what happens once everyones hardware is out

SeaSonic. 3 years old. Yeah, I know... I'll have to buy a new one...

To be honest, if I can get a used 1080Ti, that'd work for me. I reckon that card would be compatible with my PSU at least, right?

As someone who has been using 2.5/3 slot cards for years now, the size of this doesn't bother me, currently using the 1080ti MSI lightening which is an insanely long card. For most people the size should not be an issue, I don't see many people with top of the line systems in a small ITX cases, or smaller, in which case most top end cards just won't fit anyway.

Any modern PSU is "compatibile", long as it has enough rails of power to give the GPU it should be fine, will just have to check the power needed for a 3070, and compare that with the rail your PSU gives out.

3 years also is not that long, My old PSU I had for a good 8 years before i changed it, went from having a AMD 7970 to having a Nvidia 1080ti in it.

Just make sure to do your research before buying the card and that you have enough watt's to power it :)

I don't like how there's a fan on both sides of the card, will disrupt the air flow in the PC unless both fans are pulling or pushing in the same directions - ie from bottom to top of PC.

if thats the reference cooler I wonder if AIB models go 4 slot or what, I mean, they have to offer something, right? and reference designs tend to be bare minimum stuff for "normal" operation

Ah Blyat: I have many. Then should I call them stupid for making the die larger every gen, making it more expensive and upsetting everyone but those who say "uh, I have 2k ready to buy anything they release"?
You know I'm just kidding, I bought a couple Nvidia back in the day too, from GF5200 to 9800GTX and GTX460SE. I think everyone economically educated want competition, it's the best thing to see fast improvement and save our wallets!

If this is big then what do you think about the first spy image of the BIG NAVI in the hands of no other than Goddess Lisa herself:

This will be one hell of a waterblock. Imagine the weight of it. Wouldn't dare to run that without a support bracket or something.

Knowing their "expertise" with noise and heat of their latest cards I'm looking forward to see if they really learnt something: their first gen 7 nm card drew much more power and generate more heat than NVIDIA old generation pascal cards with comparable performance so let's wait and see before talking again about nm, CU, PUPU, CUCUPU...- you never know with AMD and their graphic cards division.

ah so you want 2070 super power for $275 ok then.

$400 for a 3060 with hopefully more rtx capabilities than a 2080ti is fine in my books.
I personally can't wait for AMD pricing myself so i can crap all over that thread.

This new card Big Amperage for sure

@barbacot That pic is legit, but it's not for "Big Navi". It's from future card: Long and Hard Navi. I wonder if she uses one too?... hmm

An entry level GPU, slower than a console GPU, costing as much as a PS5 "is fine".

"Can't wait for AMD to skin us all to show you how smart I am".

What's wrong with people like you?

    Function over form.

Not seen since the 5800 Ultra. What happens when you aim for 7nm and only get 8nm.

Do not buy first gen Ampere, wait till April 2021
