Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)

Have basic joysticks advanced much in the past 10-15 years? I haven't bought one in a long time but this game has me thinking of finding my old one and dusting it off.

 

Finally finished download fired up one of the training missing im surprised how well it run on my system very smooth so far and using the very high default.

 

It's so sad that Google's 3D mapping tech. is still so far ahead...

I think it's a bit unfair. It's a flight sim afterall. Google earth has been iterated on since 2001.

 

It looks like Google maps with all those Blue landmark markers all over the shop, £60 to fly over Goggle Maps lol

 

This thing is going to be around for years so i bet that at some point it will see a massive improvement in bing maps over that time, so things will only get better with this flight sim.

 

Are you able to purchase other airports or planes after getting the standard version?

 

You can detach menu windows (ATC, Map etc) so you can put them on other monitors. Don't! It tankls FPS even if you keep them, on same monitor. Strange but to me all part of the exploration.

 

Does anybody know how to switch between Imperial and Metric system in this new simulator?

When you are flying over random locations at 1,000s of feet up, do the google maps details make much difference? Compared to other flight sims, I have to say that seems pretty amazing to have the entire earth rendered in 3d, even if it is imperfect at ground level. It doesn't need to look great up close because no one flying is going to care. It would be nice, but I suspect it would also cripple most people's frame-rates too.

Are there any missions to complete, like kill save a baby elephant or deliver medicinal medical supplies, like in previous MS sims, or is it only endless flying?

Love those videos, makes you really appreciate the effort of detailing put into the game.

 

I have a PS4 gamepad that I use with Steam and normally it works fine but won't show up in FS under controller options. Anyone know how to get it to work?

Has anyone found a fix to the black screen problem that people are getting?
When I start the game it goes into a black screen and freezes.
Task manager shows it running but the screen is blank. Tried everything I can think of including
video driver update
screen resolution changes
Re-booting
Un/re-installing game
Machine meets specs:
3900x cpu
32 gig ram
RTX-2080ti
Samsung 970 pro SSD
