I don't think placebo is the correct word to use. If the slight temp increase and GPU usage are anything to go by, it definitely appears to be doing what Microsoft claims it does. Whether or not this translates to increased performance depends on many factors.

Mine's a big Zotac beast with 3 fans. If only they made them all run this cool...

Care to elaborate on this? Are you saying that watching videos/streams in browsers with HW Acceleration ON performs worse than with it OFF?

In the Steam client? Well, I was having a problem with the in-game overlay browser window turning black and unusable in most games. That was with my old 760 card, though, maybe it won't do that anymore with 1660.

 

My RTX 2070 runs 3d mark or Doom eternal @4k at 50~55c top with an Accelero Xtreme III v2 with 25c ambient.

 

Have you tried with PhysX set to CPU? This should be the better option on any modern CPU, I seem to remember benchies some years ago demonstrating the same if not slightly better FPS when PhysX was set to CPU (presumably because the GPU can be dedicated solely to rendering).

In fact, if memory serves, there was a bit of a hoo-hah when Nvidia bought PhysX and tried to lock it down to NV GPUs, only for people to find it gave no performance advantage over CPU... CPUs had, after all, continued to evolve and the load had became insignificant.

 

some games will turn off effects unless a gpu is used.

 

Alan, can you update the known issues list with those from the now updated pdf, they clarify some issues listed and add a couple more.

 

i´m in the same spot for the last months.(playing other games) after every driver update ii try the game and got 1+/- fps. but now it awesome how more fps i got. (try it at day, night, with fog) the same

 

Look at your results again, think a 20 fps drop on minimum is a small increase?

 

FFXV runs a lot smoother now

 

With GPU hardware scheduling on or off?

sorry the transparency bug was a ms edge bug and chrome did not have this bug

 

gear tectics run very bad on this new driver look at gpu usage lol it is all ultra setting i was able play the game with 60fps locked LOL now i don't XD !!!!!!!!!!

 

Btw are u guys using DCH or Standard? I mean I know it does not make any difference, I am just wondering.
