My wages went up because I'm a pizza delivery driver. I got an hourly pay raise and people are tipping a lot better. Apparently I'm a hero for doing my job so I don't lose my apartment. And I didn't even have to bomb a city or lose my legs!

There's no way to contain the coronavirus. Half the people around me aren't doing *anything at all* to protect themselves, and even the ones who are probably slip up once in awhile. I know I have. It's hard to break a lifetime of habits. I have no idea if I am a carrier, because testing so far has been limited to health workers in my area. I've had no symptoms, but that might not mean anything, apparently.

My mother is in a nursing home and got it, but she didn't get very sick from it, fortunately. I haven't been able to visit her in 3 months, though. They are only allowing visitations for people who are near death. Kind of ironic, since the whole point of stopping visitations was to keep it out of the home.

Thankfully I don't know anybody who has it. My parents are in their 70's though and that scares the crap out of me.

The whole idea of the lockdown was to flatten the curve and buy some time, people simply forget that the threat is still outhere and we still don't have a cure yet.
And how we deal with it will change our close future.

NZ is an island in the middle of nowhere (sorry Australia but that's true for you too) with only ~5mln people and also a really low population density. Nothing compared with the east of Asia, Europe or the coasts of USA. The biggest risk in NZ is having Peter Jackson trying to rape another classic book or movie.

The animated version of Lord of the Rings predates the movie trilogy though they did cut or change a fair bit of things and then Hobbit and I have no idea what's next.
    (Silmarillon?)

And then for Europe there well there was Uwe Boll and his spree of video game movie adaptions that well they had some faithfulness to them but overall I think they weren't all that great just that it continued and continued ha ha.
Far as Sweden itself goes we were about a decade or so early with nudity in main cinema movie showings starting in the early 60's instead of the late 60's to mid 70's giving Sweden a reputation that is still somewhat there. :p
(Kinda warranted in the 1970's though when the happy porno productions went unhindered until VHS saw cinematic showings as less profitable than direct to tape in the 1980's with a few movies "enjoying" almost world-wide recognition or at least certain scenes...)

And hopefully Corona can see a stop to it early come Autumn or Winter and that'll be it but I have no idea what the prognosis looks like or if it will be one of those things that comes back almost yearly and needs modified vaccinations once available to keep culling it before it can break out again or at least reduce problems and spread when some form of treatment or vaccine is available and ready for use outside of testing although even if sped up that process could take a while.

EDIT: Suppose in the next four to seven months we'll also see if this isolation and quarantine leads to another baby boom, happened almost constantly here whenever a heavy snowfall made people stay indoors for a day or two and this well the recommended now is something like two - three weeks.

But there's social media, computers, consoles, TV and other stuff nowadays so perhaps it won't be that much of a increase.

I think I have seen the best and the worst in humans

we as a family are ok because my wife is still working but I got made redundant beginning of April. Prospects are not looking good.

built a new computer to upskill in 3D still images

I do think a lot of good people will suffer emotional and financial stress far beyond what the virus itself has done.

    I which you all well

All bad and no good. Perhaps the world will never be normal again, who knows??

Nothing in my life has changed but everyone and everything around me has.

Now, since March, these are my observations:

    - Fear and worry in many people. Often crossing over to the other side of the street.
    - Queues and queues of people for many big name shops, ie Primark, Sports Direct & TKMAXX - Forget shopping
    - Social distancing has turned many people into zombies as well as extreme fear and worry
    - Restaurants - Forget it. You'll have to queue outside and your lucky to get in. If it's cold and rainy, then what? Too bad...

I cannot think of any positive outcome, only bad and no good for me....

I had plans to fly May 2020 this year, that got f**ked....

I wonder how long this will drag for? Whether short or long term makes no difference. The damage has already been done. Many people are living in fear and are scared being around others, this will affect some people forever...

Hopefully there is no plan for THEM to create a second wave to further damage the economy and people and shut down more businesses and cause further job losses and unnemployment...

Heat wave here this and last week also saw a lot more people outside, local small beach around the tiny water source here if you can call it a lake got really crowded during the evenings meanwhile news reports that the pandemic is currently hitting more than ever before with multiple deaths and a rising number of people confirmed as Corona positive.

Military is doing their usual drills too and this weekend we have the Midsummer tradition of sticking it's exactly what it looks like into the earth and doing weird stuff. :p
(There's a lot of military in most of the restaurants as a result so good luck getting in there without crowding though I would imagine they also take safety and precautions pretty seriously so less of a risk at least as a direct comparison.)

Shopping stores and for this upcoming little national holiday the alcohol store is going to be really packed too plus there's people out just about everywhere and the whole distancing thing is just gone entirely so yeah this wave two or what to call it will be far tougher.

What are we up to anyway now, heard something around 30 deaths per day so if that is a accurate figure that would be far higher than before but I don't know if that's correct or if that was the growth for the number of confirmed cases testing positive though that's also a big increase from before.

EDIT: Could be worse I guess but the development after the number of reported cases started dropping in the larger cities really doesn't help as the various precautions and safety recommendations are mostly gone now which is causing problems.

The virus has created a lot of positive change in my life:

I don't know anyone who locally who has gotten sick. One of my online buddies in New Jersey got it, but it was like a typical flu for him - he's fine now.

I work for a technology company and they sent us all home. I moved into a 5 bdrm last year, so I've got a dedicated office. Working from home has eliminated an hour of commute from my day. Also, I can now work out in the middle of the day between meetings, so I don't have to wake up super early to get it in before work. So, I'm working out more consistently than ever before.

Not being at the office has actually helped me focus on the work more. Once I got the wife and kid to respect the closed door, I've actually got fewer distractions at home, and meetings seem more productive. The executive team is now talking about making this a permanent change and reducing the office footprint.

    So far, no drawbacks.

Made no difference. Well, except working from home (I save almost 2h per day because no commuting). Normally I usually did two days remotely. It hardly matters where I whack the keyboard. Things are almost normal here. Mass events are pretty much the only exception.

With little over 300 dead here this has been a total joke. Pandemic my ass. By that standard normal influenza is even deadlier pandemic. This has not been worth it economic wise.

It's hard to judge the numbers after measures been done. Without measures against the virus it could turn into something like plague and wipe 1/3 of population. It is better to respect something I am not familiar with.
Influenza is more controlled disease. There are vaccines, effective measures and experience against it.

  19. How has this pandemic affected me? Well... I watch a lot more CNN... I work from home now... my neighbor's dog never shuts up... I drink a heck of a lot more tea than I ever thought humanly possible and started drinking coffee too! I even managed to quit smoking... I started swimming .. and ... hmm I am annoyed that I didn't get my mail-in ballot I elected for, for the primaries - guess this pandemic has made me more loopy eheh-heh' OH !

I play a ton of Assassin's Creed Odyssey & take many photos that online strangers add likes too... so I keep taking more in game photos; addicting

EDIT: The UPS & FedEx driver for my house are practically *SPAM* because of me

Chipotle has made more money in this pandemic than they've made on average in the past few years, so you know very busy.

Instead of expected to have an average throughput of 24 transactions, it doubled to be expected to do 50....While maintaining social distancing from each other, while working on an online order system, while not giving us more positions to help in the back of the house.... We did get hazard pay, but they ended it. Hopefully they continue the hazard pay, but my wallet isn't complaining about all the overtime I'm getting! :D
