I bought the Definitive Edition of Dead Island. Mostly because it's only 3 bucks on Steam right now. I loved the first one, so... playing it again... I'm all for. I didn't bother with the Definitive Edition for Riptide, I didn't enjoy it as much. So... I can pass. But, I did find this video. Comparing the original game against the Definitive Edition.
Well the background looks better dat blur though . Looks like the old trek when it looked like they smeared vasoline all over the camera lens when they shot female guests.
Did they fix the game ? controls , stuttering when moving or do you still need to use that tool (dont know if thats possible) ? What about anti-aliasing ? did they improve that ?
They've moved the entire game from Chrome Engine 5.x to 6.x used by Dying Light so it's possible the engine update has improved other areas of the game but I guess we won't know until it's released. (It will be incompatible with existing tools and mods due to this though, depending on how they handle the game archives it might not be moddable at all if the files are locked or encrypted in some way.)
Okay am I the only person that doesn't see the improvements as being significant enough to justify this? Surely the only folk who will buy this are people who didn't buy the game first time round and haven't then gone on to play Dying Light at some point?
'Loyalty Discount for Dead Island Owners!' That's a fantastic move. I just for DI1-DE for £1.80 instead of £11.99, amazing!
If it wasn't 3 bucks, I wouldn't have bought it. But, I bought Dead Island at release. And also bought Dying Light. But, I loved DI, and I see the improvements visually... and I'm interested to see how else it's been touched up.
Linking to a website that is linking to twitter accounts xD Save everyone the hassle. Guns look cool.
It's obvious those are from an unfinished build. So, not having certain props, like grass... is not surprising.
Does not seem to be finished. Its a 2015 build of a game. Shame though, liked the first screenshot, reminded me of the first game. Hopefuly one day game will see the light of day as the confirmed its still in the development.

i had a blast playing the first game. Riptide was a lesser game for me, but the first one was excellent.
No by all means that isn't the case. When Dead Island came out I played it and I liked it, quite a bit actually. I also bought Riptide and while it wasn't as good as Dead Island it was still afun enough experience but the reality is Dying Light just did everything Dead Island did and it did it better, not just by a little bit but by an awful awful lot and on top of that it did an awful lot more that Dead Island didn't do and then you add on that the developer is STILL supporting Dying Light it's really not hard to see why Dead Island can't stand up. Like I said I loved Dead Island when it came out but it never felt like it was a quality product and I doubt that the team behind it's sequel would have been willing to go far enough to match Dying Light. I guess they could have tried pivoting the game in a different direction, which is what all the multi player rumours about the game suggested they may have been trying to do. I guess we will never know now. But I still got say I was quite excited when I first saw
Who abondoned what? Dead Island 2 is still in development. As is Dying Light 2. You mean the prev. developers who "baled out"?
I love Dying Light, and it improved a lot of things. But, I prefer Dead Island's chunkier melee combat. DL streamlined it to speed it up, so it would work better with the free running. But, just because DL (hate this phrase) "raised the bar" so to speak, doesn't mean there's no place for a Dead Island 2.
