    Hi,

    I have bought a new 144 Hertz IPS monitor so I using my old non IPS 144 hertz monitor as secondary.

    No need for the full 144 Hertz so I bought a long 3 mtr HDMI cable v 1.4
    It runs on 120 Hertz on my RTX 2070 fine but if I attach it to my motherboard it will result in a black screen that switches back to the desktop some times. 60 Hertz runs fine on the motherboard.

    My motherboard is a Maximus Hero XI Wifi and I have a 9900K CPU with intel 630 graphics

    Can any body explain why it runs fine with the HDMI cable on my RTX but not on the motherboard ?

    Greetings Base

    Maybe it's got to do with the board's HDMI 1.4 standard. I have issues with hooking up at 4k device to my 1.4b's connector as well, probably limited due to bandwidth. Where your mainboard only supports HDMI 1.4b, your GPU does support HDMI 2.0b. I guess that's the difference here.
    Not 100% sure though, trying to figure out something like that with my 4k TV and the B350 mainboard I want to hook it up to myself.

    From Asus website (Maximus Hero XI Wifi);

    - Supports HDMI with max. resolution 4096 x 2160 @ 30 Hz <-- HDMI v1.4 limitation
    - Supports DisplayPort with max. resolution 4096 x 2304 @ 60 Hz <-- Display Port v1.2 allows 60 Hz

    I'm running resolution 1920 x 1080 btw on my secondary monitor so maybe it is limited by my mobo to 60 Hertz at that resolution

    why don't you just run both monitors off of the 2070?

    I do at the moment but there is a catch if I would flash my bios of my mobo it is gonne reset to iGPU in the bios and then I can't set my bios after that I have to switch the cable from the 2070 to the mobo not a real big issue but stil + I'm wondering why I can't get it working on my iGPU so that is why I asked my question here

    Maybe try DisplayPort from the IGP on the 2nd monitor, instead of HDMI.

    I'm still confused what you want to run on your 2nd monitor. 1080p at what refresh rate? HDMI 1.4 can only do 120hz iirc, is that what you're trying to run out of your HD630?

    1080 at refresh rate of 120 Hertz is enough for me so that is what I'm trying to do on my HD630 and I don't have a dp cable that long to reach my computer to test it out plus I don't have dp port on my mobo

    It should definitely have a display port

    Allright I have put as final solution my HDMI cable on my RTX 2070 basicly if I connect it to the mother board my fans for my CPU spin harder while being in games so I now have my secondary on 120 Hertz and my primary runs on 165 Hertz I'm satisfied thx for the replies
