Personally updated from 442.59 to 450.99 and after multiple restarts GPU Scheduling is still enabled (ticked on).

Here's my input. The 450.99 has a MASSIVE problem with GPU acceleration enabled and PhysX effects.
    445.98
    20200521115812_1.jpg
    450.99 WITHOUT GPU acceleration
    20200521120656_1.jpg
    450.99 WITH GPU acceleration: 20200521122401_1.jpg

There's a massive drop in FPS when PhysX effects are on screen.

Thats likely because the driver can't manage the physx cuda < > graphics queue context switches under the hardware scheduler.

It's a setting that should probably be getting set per game as Microsoft tests them.

Well, yes most likely. Turing appears less affected than Pascal. On the other hand, how is a per game setting supposed to work when this is not GAME or application type change but a global change in how the OS operates with the hardware. Needing to reboot per game would be a hassle.

Any game with PhysX with Hardware-accelerated GPU Scheduling enable give you massive FPS drop but 450.82 and 450.99 fix PhysX effects in Mafia 2 DE, Arkham Knight (Smoke flickering is gone). little stuttering in Arkham Knight without PhysX with Hardware-accelerated GPU Scheduling enable, let see R451 driver fix this problem.

    Point taken,
That said, I'm not sure there's a great need to use it on nvidia cards/drivers.

How do you guys feel about using these a daily driver driver?
I am thinking of putting 2004 on my gaming PC.

I’ve been rocking 450.82 for a while and there’s nothing to really mention, performance is mostly the same, sometimes slightly better, sometimes slightly worse.

Haven’t tested 450.99 yet but I’m not planning to. Rather wait for the official release of 2004 and WDDM 2.7, maybe a clean install as well.

Installed on Windows 1909 and working fine. Any news on when Windows 2004 will start dropping?

Yea, this is similar to enabling HDR (although that doesn't require a reboot). It should be a per-game setting, and i shouldn't have to run my desktop in fake HDR (basically SDR mapped to HDR) just because i have a couple of games that do HDR, lol

Not sure why Microsoft is forcing these things to be global.

Toggling this On/Off currently requires a full reboot even though the display driver can be stopped and restarted on-the-fly without applications crashing (at least in theory but it mostly works, even if not for complex things like games), so I guess it's rooted fairly deeply in the OS kernel (it's something like DRI for the Linux, here the NT kernel probably has to be configured for this at boot time). May be this will change later (MS might figures something out to make this switchable with "only" a driver restart and not a full reboot).
But I think this is not only for games but also video players and most of those have no real fullscreen mode.
HDR is different and it actually can be automatically toggled on/off by games, most game are just simply lazy to do so.

True, ever since Microsoft added the HDR toggle in Settings, most games just refer to that when deciding if HDR should be on.

I have noticed MPC-HC will enable HDR even if it's disabled in windows, but sometimes it can get weird with color gamut if HDR is disabled and you try to play an HDR movie. And with Nvidia 445.xx/450.xx drivers, it even starts to stutter like its fighting with the GPU (or Windows) to enable the HDR every frame. I started just turning on HDR before playing a movie because it was basically unusable.

Anyway, I've had the GPU scheduling enabled for the last couple of days without issue but i haven't played too many intense games lately. Mainly FF7 PC and Deep Rock Galactic, both of which are running super smoothly. Also the desktop feels smoother with these drivers than it has in a very very long time (running Win10 2004 + nvidia 450.99).

Thanks for the feedback. We have updated the file location for reading file version of cuda.dll in a futureR450 driver update for Windows 10 May 2020 Update.
