The 3080Ti having almost twice the cores than the 3080 seems a little fishy...

Why? You know prices and non-marketing benchmarks for geforce 3080 and for radeon "6700xt"? Well, I guess, you just fantasize about geforce 3080 costing 499$ and being twice faster than radeon 6700xt at 399$. You know that it won't be like that, but you still fantasize about it.

Price/perf for geforce 3080 vs radeon 6700 most likely will be pretty much the same as for geforce 2080 vs radeon 5700.

If it's true i think they'll go crazy(crazier) with the price on it,because they can justify it by being so much better than the 3080. Unless amd has a response for the Ti that is.

    Maybe, maybe not.

The RTX 2k series did not have consoles to compete with in its release window but the RTX 3k series will have, and while a console isn't a single component or can't really be compared to a PC GPU the point it release window of GPU/Consoles vs what people can spend since a lot lost their job due to virus, i've also seen a lot of my friends (myself included) leaning towards new consoles because their specs look great and because RTX 2k was overpriced and because people expect NVIDIA to do the same once again, and with this virus situation going on a lot of people have to save their money.

But if they are able to provide amazing performance for amazing price, like they did with the 970, then people might consider buying next gen GPU.

My GTX1080 is garbage for 3440x1440 Ultrawide, the only reasonable GPU for this resolution is the RTX2080 Ti, but in a country (Portugal) where the average income is 600€ and the RTX 2080 Ti costs 1300€, obviously not many will even bother with it, and the PS5 looks appealing.

If the RTX3070 is indeed close in performance to the RTX 2080 Ti, and costs less than half, then sounds good to me.

Normally we would expect the 3070 to be like a 2080, that's normally how it works, next gen x70 is x80 of previous gen.

But even in 2020, the GTX2080 is bad, especially in ultrawide... and in 4k.

Even if so, sadly that doesn't translate into double performance xD

I have a feeling Big Navi will be 20-30% faster than 2080ti in DX12 and come in around $650-750 in price that would mean it matches the 3080 there about’s. This would likely cause pricing to stay put.

It's a shitty threaded game compiled in 2007. It's literally a best scenario for Intel.

They're as true as the ones that directly contradicted them two months ago.

At 8000+ CUDA cores you're looking at 30B+ transistors - that puts the manufacturing cost of a single die at ~$600 on 7nm - more than double the 2080Ti. If it's true it's going to cost like $2500. No thanks.

So I wonder what they are going to sell the 3060 for? It's probably going to edge out the 2070S which is 500$. Should be interesting.

I think they screwed up with the 3080Ti naming. They paired that card with the GA100 chip. But the GA100 chip is the full uncut version usually reserved for Titan models is it not?

Surely the 3080Ti would have the GA102 chip but there seems to be no mention of the GA102

This is what I am slightly worried about, I mean it will be stupidly powerful, but cost wise would be high unless they're using some form of chiplet design to keep cost down? Personally I think the card is a titan, and there might be a 7000-8000~ model thats the true 3080ti, with the big gaps left for the super versions a year down the line.

Well, I'm not going to whine about price this time around, since I did skip the RTX 2000 series entirely because of it. So I'm psychologically and financially prepared for the 3080Ti to be at least what the 2080Ti was (and still is) at launch. I would love to be wrong of course, but I just don't see AMD competing at that high end.

On the never-ending question witch of RDNA 2 and next gen NVIDIA will get the next performance crown, while NVIDIA are undoubtedly the favorite (at least in terms of probability), with the node jump they will be able to get (12nm to 7nm+??), AMD, while only benefiting of a small jump in density (7nm to 7nm+) have on the other end the advantage of die size of their actual flagship.
The 2080ti was huge and his successor will probably be smaller, I don't think they will release a ~750mm2 monster on a relatively new 7nm+ node....

For consumer probably not. For datacenter there is no reason not to - they'll basically pay anything for performance density.

Also if TSMC's numbers are to be believed, their yields for 7nm is on par with 16 already - so theoretically the yield of such a chip would be equivalent to FFN - the biggest difference is the cost per gates on 7nm is slightly higher, and with a similar chip area you're doubling the number of gates. So that price is going to go waaaaaaaaaaay up.

The problem I have with this rumor aside from the fact that it's a rumor is that it says GA100 is the Ti. I doubt it. I'm with @RavenMaster that there would probably be a GA102 that's the real Ti. I definitely foresee a Ti model that's expensive but I don't think Nvidia is going to price it at double the 2080Ti.. and based on these spec's they'd basically have to. There is just no way to manufacture that chip at a reasonable cost that a consumer would pay.

    This,
the 5000+ shader ga102 was more likely, with the 8000< ga100 being specifically for HPC nv fabric and blade server addin boards being more likely.

Yes your right, I personally think the cuda core increase won't be as dramatic, we should not forget that rt core and tensors core will be back in probably bigger number and those take space as well. I personally think that NVIDIA will try to push RT even harder with the next generation...
