Lets just agree to disagree; people look for different things in games. Some look for a good story, others for great graphics, maybe good gunplay mechanics.Just because one aspect of the game is inferior doesn't make the game in general inferior. Calling Crysis a 'mediocre game at best' is a simple minded conclusion.

    It's not simple minded.
It's his opinion, him feeling that way doesn't make him simple minded... just means he disagrees with you.

It's actually a little insulting to call someone simple minded just because they view a game you like differently.

And personally, graphics are never top of my "what makes a game good" opinion.
Gameplay is always first. Story/characters (depending on the game and what it is going for)... with visual art style and direction, and then technical ability.

There's a difference between graphical ability, and artistic style.
Mirror's Edge came out in 2008, and I personally love it's art style and direction way more then anything in Crysis.
I also prefer Crysis 2's art over the first game, because it has a more stylized direction.

yeah pretty much. different opinions, different standards.

@The Janitor - il take back what i said about the music. its solid, that's about it. it's been a long while since i played Crysis, i have no intention to replay it, so thumbs up
for the music posted, saying meh was the wrong answer.

Crysis 2 suffers from a very very linear level design as mentioned in newyork times clearly sums it up: a walled in experience....

Crysis 2 is not nearly as linear as people try to make it out to be.

An i don't think Crysis1 is as open world as people make out either.

    It's all just personal preference.

"Crysis1 is better because 2 is more linear"
"I hate open world games so 2 is better because its more linear"

Yeah, people tend to over state the first game's open endedness.
It's still a linear game, it's still level to level, point A to point B.

And in a lot of the levels, there's not any reason to go off the main path. And, even then, after the mines... it's a straight linear path until the end of the game.

Chances are it'll be on Steam, EA have been pushing more titles to the platform lately.

At least the early pre-Trigen part, bit less overly cheating AI would be neat too though it did take into account hearing and other factors which was impressive when it worked without immediately homing in on the player.

More proper merc taunts too for that matter, "How's the apple?" (Grenade thrown.) "I'm going to shoot you in the face!"
Ehh well there's been worse at least.

Return of the Hawaii shirt hero and these wonky mutant things. Ha ha.

crysis 2 is more linear, and u feel trapped with the gameplay, u can only have 2 options to progress, and that feels walled in, as the newyork times perfectly summed it up

I never argued it wasn't more linear, just personal preference that some people will prefer being walled in.

I know lots of people who hate open world games.

No issues whatsoever with different opinions - but then don't categorically state your 'opinion' as a matter of fact perspective. Saying "Crysis is a mediocre game at best" is far from subjective.

I also don't feel someone should have to explain every single time when they say something that they are stating their opinion.

Seriously, life is so much easier if... when you read someone's post on a game, you take it that they mean "In my opinion". Don't assume everyone is trying to speak for everyone else in the world.

If it s in your opinion then it s perfectly acceptable, but that doesn t mean many people agree with u on calling it what u called it

    Never said they had to.

Just said I don't agree with calling him simple minded because he felt differently about the game.
