It would be hard to recommend these.

Too expensive! Intel needs to realise that right now AMD has the better product and price their own cpus accordingly.

Intel seem to be ignoring it, don't know if this is because they still have insane market share, or if its cause their CPU's are still selling massively (which is most likely)

But right now its hard to say get a 10900 non overclock it costs as much as a 3900x which can overclock and has more cores :/

Feel these prices need to drop a good $100~ or so to be in where the market is right now.

From what i've seen 10600k will also be priced at 280$ which is insane compared r5 3600x thats now below 200$.

This is absurd pricing as it is to stay competetive with these triple digit TDPs -> a lot of heat needing serious coolers and new Z490 motherboards which offer nothing groundbreaking, Intel will have to seroiusly rethink its pricing strategy or AMD will crush them completely.

    Comet Lake-S is still 14nm and doesn't even support PCI-E 4.0. It's definitely a generation to skip.

Well,Amd & Tsmc make Ryzen chiplets more cheaper than Intel corp.,CL cpu is still old CORE tech.
Who will buy these CL cpus will regret later because its end of the road for Core tech.

Good CPUs, for gamers, but that TDP...
Was with Intel CPU(Core i7 920) for a 10 years, but with Intel milking strategy I'll say thanks and move to AMD. 14nm for 5 years or how long they sell this?
I'll wait 4000 series from AMD.
It will have AVX512? I mean AMD.

I don't know why I feel bad... Never make such statements/comments, but this is the first time in my life that I will seriously consider to go from Intel to AMD. Exchange my 9700 to Zen 4000 series if I see the team is not going on. On the other hand, I'm pretty confident my 9700 can keep me fine through this stage. Kind of confusing. Better stop reading tech forums for a while to stop the itching.

I do not think that 419 USD is so much bad as you describe.
Many people still want intel, of course if you are tech savvy and some friend of your ask you what to buy, you can say AMD.
But defining their pricing strategy wrong, is ... wrong.

They will start with those prices and eventually pull them down if necessary. They will probably produce not many of those CPUs, and they will just sell them all.

I see the 3800x is at 380$ now.
If i do not care about nanometers ( and i should not ) and i m build a whole PC, 380 vs 419 is not that much different. And i can buy what i want.
The 10700k is the 9900k that was pricer than 419$, so an improvement overall.

    Don't you think?

Why with a 9700 you would need any kind of upgrade next 2 years? you have 8 core 8 threads, i think you are fine for a while.

I mean, it's the most powerful CPU I ever have had ( I always was an i5 boy ), but as I said, you might know the feeling, it's just itching. I know I'm not going to need a better CPU for the next 2 years at least. Also, most importantly I'm now over 30 years old and that means I don't even game as much.

    10700k ($419) is more expensive than Ryzen 7 3800X ($399).

Intel better be confident about their CPUs.

Dont forget there is a 3700x for 299$ that any am4 board supports.

I have been itching with my i920 -> i970 -> i990x. I could swap cpu easily and i let the thing flow.
I had 6 cores, and that kept my iching safe fore all the 4/8 era.
But i itched like 9 years and i bought a 2700x. I'm still itching, but i know is just for fun, i do not really need it.
I also just play WOW and do all the work on a macbook.

I'm an intel guy (which I know makes me the devil around here) and...I just don't see how a discerning consumer can participate in this gen with super high prices, heat generation and lack of PCIE 4.0.

Now, that being said, 99% of consumers are NOT discerning and they'll buy these as fast as they can make them - so the pricing is appropriate in the sense that people will buy them - they could probably charge even more it wouldn't even matter

10700k is maybe a bit faster than 9900k/ks. 9900k/ks is faster in most scenarios over 3800x. Looks like the price is on par with performance vs 3800x :)

I will buy 10700k and 10900k with Asus z490 Apex, just for benchmarking. Going to be great fun with chilled water and good b-die memory, like z390 Apex and 9900k.

4800mhz+ on memory will be easy on this plattform :)

Overpriced trash if it remains like this. My 8700K was around 380USD (equivalent, purchased in EU, so yeah, in the US it would have been cheaper), just 1-2 months after the release date in 2017, when it was top of the consumer line. Now they want above 500$ for that?
    Go away, Intel.

Im sure some people will buy these chips but I don't expect this generation of minor iteration will be a big seller for Intel. A few months later AMD should have Zen3 CPU's which really has to limit people jumping on these at launch. Intel is going to have to rethink pricing until they fix 10nm or get on there 7nm node.

What's going to be the difference between this year's AMD chips and last year's 3800X/3900X chips?

I dn't know much about AMD other than they're overall great but single core performance still behind intel's top end chips - is that expected to improve with the ones released this year?
