Intel is doing what AMD did for long time with videocards, trying to keep relevant by increasing TDP to the roof.. AMD failed - sales very bad, Intel will too.

Desktop 10th gen will flop but mobile 10th gen will succeed likely because of OEMs being cautious of 4xxx mobile.

It looks like it has alot of variety. I think Intel will do well

Nevertheless, I'd like an i5 10400 with a Z490 M/B and 2933Mhz RAM. The power consumption is extremely low with so refined 14nm. Although I have better CPU ( 9700K ). Especially the i7 10700 but that consumes a lot more power.

By the way, guys, what's the "ES"? And why the i5 10500ES is weaker than i5 10400?

A guy that speaks the truth. Eventually. I'm really tired of all the fuss about Ryzen. On the other hand, I can't blame them. They were behind for so many years. And even still Intel holds on tight. And don't ever forget. AMD managed 7nm. Imagine when Intel releases 7 or 5nm. It's gonna be bloodbath again and they will realize what you said. I, too, considering for a while a 3700X, but it's out of mind, thankfully.

Those who doesn't know what AMD is. Or have strong color preference.

...but OEM's already know enough NOT to be "cautious" - quite the opposite. The only issue actively seeking to reduce OEM uptake is that well-known 3 billion Intel has set aside.

Were you using a graphics card that could utilized the 3900x to its full potential?

Well, bang on cue...and consistent as ever. I'm sure your Intel paymaster will be proud.
3900x - "nothing special about that CPU"..."I find that I just wasted money for mobo and 3900x"..."seen that level of performance with Intel for the past 3-4 years"

    ...Pretty damning!

    And, also on cue...the back-up...

Even after, when we all know exactly how Zen2 products are doing - and performing, we still have this conveyor belt of trash talk. Pathetic.

Buying z490 asus Apex, and overclock the 10 core to the "moon"
Benchmarking with binned b-die memory and 2080ti.

That is "work" for a couple of months. Then wait for next gen gpu's, and repeat the benchmarks.
New hardware is fun toys, nothing more :p

What the name or color is, I don't care. I benchmarking them all :D

So you basically made a purchase with unrealistic expectations, didn't research before purchasing and it's now the product's fault.
I don't wanna sound like an asshole but you've got nobody to blame but yourself. It is well known and documented that the difference in gaming isn't there compared to Intel, it's multithreaded where the difference lies.

    Next time do some research.

Im sure tdp is useless when it comes to Intel, thats a 200W 10core cpu that costs more than 500Eur while 8core is nothing but a 9900k with a different name. But hey, there is also a overpriced 6core that have HT now, what a joke.

haha! I mean in some ways hes partly true I guess, Zen2 has no bells and whistes on the front (least if you just look at performance alone), but boy pop the hood and you get some of the best price to performance in a long time, including lower thermals, less power draw, typically more cores for similar or less price than intel, sadly not the best overclockers but the IPC is amazing... Just wonder if people get these chips thinking it will double their performance or something???

Yeah sorry about that, I jumped to some conclusions. Can definitely relate though, I jumped from a 4.9GHz 2600k and can't say I've seen any improvement in heavily cpu-bottlenecked games (in my case old MMOs basically). Multithreaded stuff went through the roof as expected.
I'd say upgrading starts being worth it for games if you're still on 4 cores without hyperthreading. Basically the i5s from a few gens ago (7600k) are starting to suffer from what I gather.

Even the i5 10400 which is dirt cheap has hyper threading, 6+6 cores. Especially if they will release an i5 10400F, we're talking about 170 euros. Not bad at all. My only problem to make the jump is the M/b. I have Z390 with an i7 9700K. I'd like a Z490 with an i7 10700KF. And even a dirt cheap PC with an i5 10400F with onboard graphics for movies/series/YouTube/Browsing etc. And both PCs with DDR4 at 2933Mhz.

Now I work my PC dual channel and while the pair is rated at 3,2Ghz, I run it at 2,67Ghz CL 14-14-34-1T-374 with 1,250V instead of 1,350V ( 3,2Ghz ).

It's fair to say after the legendrary Sandy Bridge, the single thread improvement is not noticable to the average joe.

Whats with all the turbo names, single core turbo, max turbo 3.0 then Thermal Velocity Boost it's just gibberish for the sake of gibberish if max core is 5.3GHz then thats it's max turbo why bother including 5.1 and 5.2GHz it's just max crap slapped on a box just for the hell of it.
