I think this driver will not be distributed among insiders. I think it's for developers

its supposed to already be available, with another driver coming with later to enable other features.

Nobody knows how to get 450.56 so far, not even in the DX Discord.

@ManuelG Jaques van Rhyn is adament that the driver is available somewhere, can you comment on if a developer liason or devrel contact is required?

Why being impatient about something that has not even been supported by game devs? Once it's release I'm sure it will be release with some games supporting it all and being able to try it to the fullest.. until then just stay calm and wait patiently..

I simply wish to test a new WDDM 2.7 beta driver because the last one (450.12) proved way too unstable (at least for some DX12 games with HWAS on, RotTR crashes constantly for example) and lacks some of the recent fixes/changes due to it's age (the most prominent issue is the elevated black level in Win10 HDR mode).
We probably won't see anything (other than may be a few small techdemos/benchmarks) of the mesh shader stuff for several years (because it's not backwards compatible, currently Turing-only). May be some pieces of it will pop up if they come up with some hybrid solution (similar to what AMD's driver can allegedly do for RDNA parts, may be nVidia will do something similar but possibly for post-Turing only).

It is up to Microsoft whether and when this driver will make it to people.

Miscommunication has happened, whilst the blog post suggests the 450.56 driver is available, it is actually NOT.

Microsoft and Nvidia are working on a means of distributing a DX Ultimate driver at the moment, but 450.56 has not reached Redmond, only word that it exists and that it has those features ready.

Developers get the driver first then the public at a later date once it's stable. have a friend who is a indie developer and ask him a question about driver updates, he said Nvidia, AMD, Intel release drivers to Developers first then Reviewers then the Public.

Yeah, no that is not how it works at all.

    https://developer.nvidia.com/

This would seem to imply the driver will only support Turing GPUs.

At the moment (among officially released products on the market) only Turing GPUs (and only the "full" RTX versions, not the simplified GTX versions) have all the necessary hardware capabilities for this "Ultimate" level. But that doesn't mean the "Ultimate" compatible drivers won't be able to support Pascal and older products. Those older cards won't be able to run "Ultimate" titles (which use Mesh shaders) but that's exactly why we probably won't see any Ultimate games for several years (only demos/benchmarks, may be, or some "hybrids" by chance).
