We are reviewing an air cooler from ... Corsair, yes the new the A500. The official presentation took place on the 6th of January. In other words, Corsair has just resurrected its air cooling line-u...

What is the CPU power consumption during the tests?

Thanks for the review. Deepcool Gamer Storm is Gamerstrom on the charts.

Yeah, but doesn't that sound way cooler ;) Fixing.

  5. Agreed, i like gamerstrom better....reminds me of angstrom.

Also, pretty impressive cooler. I am not the biggest corsair fan, but may have to try one of these out next time i build an all corsair/asus gamerkid rig.

Great review Hilbert! Thanks for posting it. As a result of it, I will definitely keep this cooler in mind when I do my next build.

can't find my screenshots of that but from memory my 9900k was
    120Watts @ 5.0ghz 1.26V (or maybe stock settings ? not sure)
180Watts @ 5.1Ghz 1.36V (yes it's normal, insane power increase for almost no gain on my early release base 9900K)

for comparison a stock 24 cores 3960x is in the 250-280Watts (4.1-4.3Ghz) it's another level of heat generation, but keep in mind it has triple the cores, my ex-9900K cooling AIO (H115i rgb plat) was "overworked" so I ended up going custom loop watercooling (with a 360 55mm thick radiator) at idle the threadripper constantly generate heat compared to Intel cpus which downclock/voltage much better so after a few hours your water/liquid temps get hot and cool less

Looks great. Frankly I am impressed that Corsair actually went for an air cooler, them being so well known for their AIO liquid coolers. AIOs are always nice, but a good solid air cooler like this is so much more reliable and consistent performing over time. So yeah, good for Corsair that they introduced this option. :)

Nice cooler. And "You won’t get RGB functionality..." makes it even nicer, as far as I'm concerned;).

Actually in market for an air cooler. Wonder if I should go with this or the Noctua D15. I am afraid it is too big though I will need to measure first, the pic makes it look the size of a mini-fridge or something.

Unless there is some huge breakthrough in air cooling technology, like when heat pipes first hit the scene, ill stay where I am.

hmm... i wonder how some of these more recent air coolers perform with something like this 120x38mm 2900rpm 120cfm PWM Delta on it. Yeah, i know the shroud would be problematic on this one, but other heatsinks in the category.

Good to see reliable air cooling without RGB from Corsair. Really gives impression of being aimed towards more mature users.
