Lost max resolution after driver install using a Sapphire RX 5700

    Hi,
    I got this problem and I have been looking without any solution: on windows 10, without drivers I got 1440p resolution, with AMD drivers my max resolution is 1080p :confused::(.

    I use an hdmi cable, my monitor doesn't have DP, is an old crossover monitor.

    My history is:
    • After a window crash I lost my max 1440p resolution, was only available 1080p using AMD driver 19.8.1.
    • So I uninstall drivers with DDU. After reboot I had 1440p available again. So I proceed to install 20.1.2 and I lost my 1440p resolution again.
    • So I uninstall drivers with DDU. After reboot I had 1440p available again. So I proceed to install 19.12.2 and I lost my 1440p resolution again.
    • Now, I've installed 20.1.4 and the problem continues.
    I hope someone can help me.

    Enable VSR in the display settings.

    Before the problems I could change to 4k with VSR, now it says that is not suported. And 1440p its my monitor native resolution.

    That's really weird.
    Check, just in case, that no other monitors are hidden in device manager (DDU should remove them, but, maybe in your particular setup it isn't)
    Go to Device Manager> View> Show Hidden Devices.

    Also, what's your monitor brand and model? The more info, the better.

    Issue is likely in monitor to graphics communication.
    I say:
    - Download CRU and run it
    - Select your screen
    - check what kind of identification data and limits are there
    - Add expected data (google may help here)
    - use restart tool for changes to apply and test newly added resolution, frequency, ...

    As hidden devices, I found three monitors and I remove them, restart but the problem continues.
    After work I will try the CRU software and search for the model and drivers for my monitor. And I will try a different HDMI cable

    Thanks for this. With CRU I got the resolution data for my 1440p settings, I add the resolution to adrenaline and its ready :cool:, almost :p, it doesn't work with drivers 20.1.4 so I've used the latest good, in my case it was 19.8.1
