We test and review the new PowerColor Radeon RX 5600 XT Red Dragon. The Radeon RX 5600 XT is basically an RX 5700 however with 6GB of GDDR6, lower clock frequencies and a price tag of 279 USD. PowerCo...

If it wasnt for the bios mess 5600xt would just be an amazing deal. Its closing in at 2060super and rx5700 at 289$ is impressive.

    thats a nice review.

That price does not exist anywhere except US.

And as long as everyone outside US like Europe can easily find 5700/2060 under 349$ and 5700XT/2060S under 399$, it is not worth it at all.

Perhaps we should wait for more stores to have it on stock. Early fast adopters are testers even in pricing. I hope market will stabilize in February.

Well, even stock, it is faster and have 2gb more. You cannot fill the gap even with OC, there will be scenarios that 5600 will lose, despite being cooler.

Here in Greece, 330eur I can get RX 5700 MSI Mech and 370eur RX 5700 XT MSI Mech, not blower thing. It ain't bad scenario at all. 5600 is more expensive than cheapest 5700 here once again.

There is a huge portion (meaning most of them) of gamers who want to have CHEAPER GPUs. Yes, the 5700 has more VRAM. But it costs $50-60 more. Yes, you can have RTX2060 for $320 or so. But it is a bit slower and consumes a bit more power, so the efficiency of the 5600XT is better. And it's cheaper by $30-40. The 5700XT and 2060S are another league in terms of pricing, but not really in terms of performance. So if you want a more powerful midrange card than an RX 570 or a 1660Ti, the absolute best option is the 5600XT (and these are the best cards in the market right now). It can run 1080p games with high fps numbers and you can get solid fps in 1440p too.

The only issue there is, that looks like price without taxes. Once you add taxes, prices end up in 400+ range...

You wouldn't want to know EU price for that card.
    You'll cry.

  10. Power Color is my second choice behind Sapphire. I'd pay $300 for a nitro edition.

My dudes and dudettes, hear me out.
I'm setting up a rig for gaming and just saw that the fatboy RX590 is going for 179 (amzn)
Do you guys think it's worth shelling out the extra 160 USD for this 5600XT or just save it and upgrade sooner down the road?
I'll be playing on 1440. No plans for 4k.
Many thanks from your man in the bin.

p.s. of course expect many of the 5600xt's to end up much lower than their current prices in due time.

We got one of those XFX DD's for $300 USD + tax about a month and a half ago. Fast card, that deal has been up pretty frequently. Ours was from Newegg. Makes 5600XT pricing seem not so great. 5600 should be $249 IMO.

Nah. In Denmark, we're an expensive country, everyone knows that I think, there's 25% VAT on everything - the cheapest 5600 XT I can find is 2349kr, which is 314€. So I'd assume it's probably relatively the same across europe, although I know there are outlier countries where the poor economy apparently makes everything be way more expensive.

It is nice to see a bit of competition, though. Even though these cards that are supposed mid-range offerings are now sitting at around 30-50% higher than they were when the RX 580 and GTX 1060 launched.
Of course, they also perform way better, relatively, than those cards did at the time, I guess. So in that respect, the entire performance floor has gone up - we're no longer just looking at 1080p 60fps for baseline, now it's 1080p 120fps or even more. So I guess it's only natural that things increase in price as our demand for their quality increases.

There's actually 2 different versions of this card. Just built my brother a rig with the second version. Main differences are the fans are different, the shroud is different(but the actual heatsink is the same), and his version requires a 6 pin and an 8 pin connector. It does also have dual bios, a 12gbps and 14gbps bios. PCB didn't look at since we don't want to void the warranty, but I imagine it's the same.

I have an 10% discount on that price, goes for 273 with shipping. But I think it is still early days, prices will decrease as we approach March, when AMD is rumoured to gives us something.
