wrong, don´t even 2080 are capable to run at 144fps on 2k resolution in most of games

youre just trying justify the defeat of ryzen

So, if 16C/32T CPU and 12C/24T on AM4 socket are not productivity CPUs, what are they? Do you claim those are gaming CPUs? What if their performance in productivity workloads roughly equates to that of 12C/24T and 16C/32T on TR4 socket?

    AC:O ... 2700X => 93,7fps ; 8700K => 98,4fps ... 5% and 4,7 fps
GTA 5 ... Not in the list of games you linked. And at same time it is game that bugs out when fps exceeds certain point.
    FC5 ... 2700X => 101fps ; 8700K => 133,2fps ... 32% and 32.2 fps (poorly coded DX11 game that chokes when ultrawide screen is used)

For those exceeding screen's refresh rate, difference is 0% and 0 fps. Then again i7-8700K costs double of 2700X.
That defeat is not defeat, but rigged test set that does not equate to current state of things.

Hahahahaha 32 fps of difference but because its the game fault, sure

But but the price? but and 7nm? Dude, i dont cares about price or die size, i want performance to hit my 144hz all time that´s the reason i´m changing to i9 9900ks right now or maybe wait a little more to new i7 10700k

Then why your profile still says that you run 2700k instead of upgrading when quite stronger CPUs came in past? OCed Sandy is now quite underperforming in comparison to even 1st generation of Zen. Stock 9700k is like 25~30% faster in games on average than OCed 2700k.

Are those big words about few percents here now because you are finally going to pull trigger? If you intend to keep your next CPU for as long as you kept Sandy, 9900KS is not smartest of choices.

If you are truly set on intel for that meager performance difference. And if you really only game, get 9700k. And once intel delivers completely new architecture and leapfrogs current technology, get that earlier with saved up cash. Because that's what will come much sooner than you anticipate.

I love how it's turned from "you don't need more than 4 cores for gaming" to "a 12-core CPU is only used for gaming", LMAO. My Ryzen 9 3950X outperforms my Threadripper 1950X to the tune of 40%, and yet it's not for productivity

I am kind of in love with my 3900X. I have to admit. For workloads I run, it crushes my previous 2700X.

And here are main differences between TPU's test setup for 3900X and mine right now:
    - They "OCed" their CPU to 4GHz on all cores. Which led to decrease of performance as it removes boosting mechanism. Mine Boosts all cores to ~4,2GHz under load while 1/2/3/4/... cores still boost well above that and all cores can down-clock and down-volt when idle.
    - My all core boost in normal behavior is ~400 MHz higher than theirs when they used default settings ~10%.
    - My 2/3/4/... core clock under load (usual gaming load) is ~200MHz higher than theirs ~5%. (I know that people with different boards and BIOSes can get up to 400MHz more.)
    - My memory and Infinity Fabric runs 12,5% faster and I am still not done tuning.

I have the feeling that today (6 months after that review), results are quite better for Zen2. And they are bit worse for intel due to things this topic is actually about... Security Vulnerabilities and their Patches.

your clearly in denial, as i HAVE a 1440p moni, i HAVE 2080, i HAVE a 3600 and i beat any 2080 that runs with 8700 or lower.
and i can run every game i have maxed out @1440p and mi/avg/max fps are steady 60/75 (depending what the game allows),
and most of the games i dont play online i run (maxed out) @4K.

i did test siege once, maxed settings incl TAA 4x@25% at 1440p doing +100fps MINIMUM,
but my screen isnt gsynced, so i dont care to run it higher, and i doubt the 2700/3700 will have a problem reaching 120.

because I don´t update my profile and no, when I updated my sand bridge 2 years ago, he with overclock to 4.7ghz won the new Ryzen 1800x that I changed and the 1800x didn't overclock 100mhz, so I sell 1800x and buy one i7 8700k obviously
    yes, in your dreams

Well, ive just ordered my new 3800x and ASUS PRIME X570-PRO mobo, already got my Corsair Dominator 3600 ram, this latest issue may require local access but how long before it can be done remotely.

Something that's not in your profile is not "obvious".
And if you have 8700K, why would you practically side grade to 9900KS when you have no need for extra core/threads as you only game?
If you like those fps so much, you would get big perceivable framerate boost not from new CPU, but from new GPU + from getting screen capable to display all those additional frames that you can already render, but your 144Hz screen can't display.

Have you noticed that there is going to be 360Hz screen from ASUS w/ g-sync soonish?
Even 240Hz screen would increase your framerate cap by 66%. In article you linked, 7 out of 10 games did well over 144fps on average. Mostly closer to 180fps with one at ~300fps.
That means you could already get 25% higher fps (screen refreshes) in those games just by changing screen.

All those CPUs there are really not so different from each other in gaming. But GPU and monitors will greatly change what you can see and what you can't.

Dude is happy with his Intel, let him play on his 1080p monitor with min graphics settings to choke his CPU.

if you define dreaming as in looking at my screen and reading the results/numbers from benches/games,
    then yes, im dreaming.

lets use a bench as example, so i dont pick a game favoring my hw:
superposition at 1080p/extreme, im about 5% faster than the 8700.
min 44 vs 42/ avg is 54 vs 56/ max fps is 74 vs 67 fps.
the tested i7-9900 is 1% better (7600 vs 7500 pts).
for how much more, than my 3600? 250% more (180$ vs 450$)

wow, great value to spend 250% more to get 1-10% in return.
let me see, how much would you gain spending additional 270$ on the gpu instead on cpu?
my crystal ball says more than 10%

Ok use a synthetic test to try find the ryzen beating the 8700k, and about prices? Sorry but i have 8700k more than 1 year before ryzen 2700x be released and its like i say before, i dont worry about price, like some people buying high end hardware never have the percentage of performance improvement over price difference

I will change my video card in next nvidia generation and sorry but i dont will change my monitor just jo try justify the ryzen defeat, because like i say before, i cant run on 144fps in 2k and with new games will be worst

I could do 240fps and more even with 2700X in many games. I am sure that in that comparison, yours 8700K can do better.
Now, I usually cap my games between 160 and 235fps depending on game. And I am mostly limited by graphics card.

All you need to do is uncap fps and see if GPU hits 100% utilization at max/close to max clock. Then your CPU is not limiting factor. And still, even if your CPU was limiting factor in some games, do you really want to spend that kind of money for such a small improvement?

I understand your position, and it is your money. But before you pull trigger, really think about all alternatives where this expenditure can deliver higher benefit.

Nobody cares for e-sports and multiplayer noobs. Most gamers play single/campaign games and consoles for a reason. Those gamers won't even bother for more than 120fps, ever. They have real life.

Smooth gamers looks at frametimes and lows. AMD wins in smoothness. We do not care for maximum frames that pushing average above realistic situations. Please, stop your jealously, patch yourself.
