It was already pointed out, but the stories take inspiration (or outright rip-off XD) from local Polish (or Slavic central-European in general) folk and faerie tales, the countries take inspiration from medieval central European kingdoms (Poland, Bohemia, the Holy Roman Empire and the Baltic kingdoms) and most of the names are Polish in nature. The games kinda exacerbated it by using Polish medieval architecture for the models).
Well, the Netflix series is based on the books. Not the games. Several people working on the show have stressed that many times. So, there's been a lot of "that's not like the games"... which the show runners have been pretty up front, "Your right, that's not like the games"
Does it matter? But to answer your question - people who played the game are going to be very interested to see the show, and comparisons will be duly made here.
not impressed with the Yennefer and Geralt picks for the TV show. im having a hard time with it. hope il enjoy the show and might be wrong about it.
Are you seriously put out by seeing two posts linking youtube videos to the show that everyone who has played the game is curious about? I mean... don't you think there are more important things in life to get stressed about? How would your life improve if those two posts were made in a separate forum? Does it -actually- matter? Go outside. Smell the flowers.
well.. me and the wife watched 3 episodes last night, its already on Netflix. iv played the games ( duh ), also finished the books few years back. fyi - my comment does not contain any spoilers. i must say... i don't understand the 10\10 reviews. i like the sword-fighting scenes, its very well executed. the rest ? extremely mediocre. the acting, the actors, the drama, the way the story flows... that's a 7\10 at best for me. my wife was intrigued watching it since she loved G.O.T and she knows i wasted tons of hours on the Witcher 3. she fell asleep in the third episode her review so far - "its ok". im not gonna stop watching, il finish the first season.
I agree. I just finished episode 3. 1 was good, 2 was a bit average, but 3 was brutal. And yes she makes a great Yennefer. I can't wait to see where this leads!
finished another 3 episodes today. alone. well.. its terrible. not enjoying it.. i don't like the settings, the acting.. the series is a mess for me. much worse than i expected. that's my personal take on it.. have a good week everyone.
