I use HWinfi extensively, but I don't have RAM temps. I guess el-chipo aegis doesn't have that on lol.

  2. lol I'm missing so many of the references on here.... uh... ya ok ya chip-runner'

How many of you have seen the base clock as the base? While gaming I see plenty of times the clock on some cores go down below the stated base frequency. As defined by AMD, what is the meaning of base clock? Lowest have seen the multiplier go for my 3800X is 38.25, on a few cores, while gaming.

♦ CPU - AMD 3800X With MasterLiquid Lite ML240L RGB AIO
    ♦ RAM - G.Skill Trident Z 16GB DDR4(F4-4000C18D-16GTZ) (2x8)

Yes I see below base clock all the time.I would say normal operation.
My take AMD’s precision boost 2/PBO/PBO Override algorithm is smart and most efficient CPU's made to date.Just turns off cores when not needed at lighting speeds of 1000 x second(I do not know how fast exactly)to keep within a power envelope set by AMD.
The software can not show with 100% accuracy all the time. Ryzen Master is a good tool to see cores sleeping even on all core overclock.I know you know this ,I am just saying for others and I may be wrong.
I even see now HWinfo64 has put in effective clock now.

Base clock I assume is for rated TPD at the clock.I guess base clock is for marking only.I do not know what base clock really is.

I've never seen my 3700X drop below 3.6 while gaming but it never his boost rating either.

RM is partially reading crap values. So who knows how precise it is in general.;)

Even at 3.8 cannot complain. Was just curious. The excitement of the moment got the better of me. Saw the 3800X had a base clock of 3.9 so for me it was a no brainer since the best oc I had on the 1700X was 3.9. Got to continue on where I left off so to say.

EDIT: Now watch, when the next iteration of Ryzen comes out and I switch to an MSI board, Gigabyte will be the ones to have.

Ryzen Master would master any Ryzen Master's Ryzen as long as the Ryzen Master could master any Ryzen Master's Ryzen; but should a Ryzen Master master a Ryzen Master's Ryzen? :p

Yes, I love Monkey Island. :D

Lol, exact same reasoning for me to get the 3800X, base clock is the same as my previous overclock. Plus all the other benefits from Zen 2 :)

As for base / boost clocks while gaming I'm splitting the difference and seeing a basically consistent all core boost of 4300 - 4350. Some cores may dip to 4200 for a moment or spike to 4400 - 4450.

All in all very happy with that and much rather take consistent all core boost like this than one or two cores tipping its toes to 4500 occassionally.

Haven't monitored with latest BIOS yet though /w 1004B AGESA so perhaps now it's even better!
    Above observations with 1003ABB.

  12. Funny you mentioned the two - still fighting for the update on the ROG STRIX X370-F GAMING ... the 1.0.0.4; on with ASUS now - seeing if I can get transferred to somehow friendly willing to discuss a possible ETA or give an actual yes or no...

EDIT: Alright so where I am currently at is I have a ticket awaiting reply in the BIOS group over at ASUS in regards to request for further X370 AGESA updates...

Yeah not very promising when one of the top motherboard makers in the world are not fully supporting the lineup for the life of the socket when there competitors are fully supporting the socket within reason, one conciliation for you is you do not need BIOS 1.0.0.4 for proper operation of the motherboard as it should work with older BIOS.
I do understand why you would want the latest and greatest but in reality it does not bring anything special that is needed to run the motherboard.By special I mean performance improvements and you would you probably not like the decrease on the CPU clocks with BIOS 1.0.0.4.

Hang in there,I bet they will release BIOS 1.0.0.4 within a month.

Good upgrade over an 1700 OCed to 3.9Ghz (4.015 Max at 1.438v) ;)

Anyone know the temp specs for Boost? Was running CB15/20 and noticed that if I stay under 69.5c all cores run at 4.125-4.150ghz. If I go above that they drop to 4.050-4.075ghz. Was wondering if there was a temp limit chart to know the threshold.

On a side note Boost is 25-50mhz lower with new bios. Using same bios settings as before. These are peak boost....sustained clocks are roughly the same. CB single core score has went down 506-507 vs 510-511 on old bios. mutli core score is same (4900-4980)

    1.0.0.3 ABBA
    4 cores- 4.400-4.425ghz
    2 cores- 4.375-4.400ghz
    2 cores- 4.325-4.350ghz

    AGESA 1.0.0.4
    4 cores- 4.375ghz
    2 cores- 4.350ghz
    2 cores- 4.300ghz

I can pull 4.40ghz if I leave voltage on auto but multi core performance goes down due to temps when loading all cores.

3 of my cores still hit 4400 on 1.0.0.4(thought I'm not sure exactly how or when) 3 hit 4350 and 2 hit 4325. With what I think is the ABBA SMU on the 1.0.0.3 Stilt modified BIOS 4 cores hit 4400 and 3 hit 4375. Definitely some walking back of the boost going on there.

Well that's bs, Asus pretty much putting X370 to EOL then.

Granted ASRock haven't an official release with 1004B yet either but one was up for grabs from JZElektronik which is not stated as beta so as far as I can tell this is the to-be-official release (P5.65 / X370 Killer SLI).

With ASRock if the number ends in anything but a zero it’s a beta.
