Lisa Sue in an interview talking about Zen3 said that it would be on AM4. the first 4000 CPU's will not be APU's.

Not really sure how AMD was "overpriced" with a top of the line dual-core processor for $1001 in 2005, when Intel was trying to sell a Pentium 4 HT 670 single-core processor for $851, also in 2005. And then ofcourse there were the Pentium Extreme Edition 840 which was $1000 in 2005 as well.

In the 2005 era Intel and AMD were pretty neck to neck in terms of pricing, and performance was back and forth depending on the price point.

I also don't recall anyone ever having "Another overpriced CPU from AMD" in their article, though it was almost 15 years ago, i could be wrong. Looking at reviews from 2005 for these products, i don't see any saying anything like that.

We are drifting off topic but I'll just say that 2020 is too soon for both PCIe5 and DDR5.
That said, we could see another AM4 processor.
And in the case we don't, I'll happily settle for what I can afford from the last units of Ryzen 3000.

I bought the Opteron 165 dual core instead it was socket compatible and overclocked very well.

The one YOU can Easily afford.

Its OK price, cheaper then what i paid for my 9900K on release but where im from we have 17% vat, import tax and some otehr taxes so prices are almost double US prices.
Still if you compare to that whats its same service that sells binned CPUs, this one is twice cheaper, they were selling binned 5Ghz 9900K for 1K usd if not more.

Tom's Hardware has insane 3950x review, tons of benchmarks, both PBO and regualr modes on same graphs and he compares it with tons of CPUs but one of them is last years Intel 18 core overclocked to 4.4Ghz and it wins in 89% of benchmarks even in gaming.
After i seen this review i abandoned my idea to buy 3950x and just wait and see what 18 core Intel brings, and its Overclocking potential.

To be honest i agree and disagree.

We have to get out of the uncommon view of upgrading the cpu every year.
Normally you buy an expensive combo, you think of it lasting at least a couple of years.
You buy a 9900k today, or ks, you should not think of upgrading in 2020 or 2021, if you are in such mood, you should have already bought either the 3800x or the 9900k at day one.

Getting a new cpu, with significant gains, on the same mb, is a new thing introduced from AMD for this 2-3 generations, i'm not sure is meant to last.
If you think of it when did it happen last time?
Probably when you could have pentium 1 133 up to 200mmx on the same motherboard, or when you could have p3 550e up to 1ghz. Then it stopped.

Amd had a plan of releases from day 1, they talked about zen up to zen3 being in the making/design process since start, and they planned it to be on the same platform, is not something that happens often and i m not sure is gonna happen again, at least not with those perf bumps.

I didn't think it was that hard a conundrum. The answer was 2700X. I can easily afford all of them BTW. I suppose if money was absolutely no object then yes I'd get the 9900KS, but that was not the question.

Not bad, but it greatly bothers me that the 9900KS only gets a 12 month warranty, when the 9900K gets 36 months. Seems like a red flag.

Yeah, that's definitely suspicious. Nevermind, I would never get this CPU, even if I was on team blue.

I may be wrong but in this review is just the consumer platform, the dual channel one.
No high end platforms are included.

If you can easily afford 9900KS then thats what you buy, if you still need to calculate and consider whats affordable and whats better buy financially it means you CANT easily afford it.

I ain't taking sides, just trying to be reasonable which you are failing to see. Intel brings nothing to the table with the third same cpu, not sure if anything more is worth saying.

I wonder how it compares to a 9900K overclocked to exactly the same values as the 9900KS stock. Nobody seems to include those numbers. Sure, in theory they should be identical, but are they really?

You just don't understand what "bang for buck" means.
