well i hope the 3000 series is a worth it upgrade over my 1080ti, they onnly upgrade worth it now performance wise would be the 2080ti, and it doest make much sense for the price per performance improvement, so ill be looking at the 3080 and 3080ti

Nice news can't wait for the 3070 it should be about 3x the performance of my 1070.
I hope it will hold up well with next gen console ports at 60fps 1080p res which is all want.

Yep, anyone with a 1080 or 1080Ti basically had to pay an arm and a leg for an upgrade. As much as I could buy a 2080 Ti, I prefer to be sensible with my budget and € 1300 is simply not sensible for the performance upgrade it offers.

Nope, they'll charge anything they can, and if AMD have nothing as usual and those cock smokers at Intel don't introduce something decent at a non-insane price you'll be looking at 1.5-2K + your first born child.

It will be interesting to see what sort of performance they can put into the equivalent of a GTX 1060`s 120 watt power limit. Should be very good if they avoid the ray-tracing stuff until the next generation.

AMD will be unleashing RDNA 2-based GPUs in 2020, and that's why Nvidia is working on the new 3000 series. (also heard that the ampere will be cheaper [~$200 less ]than its predecessors).

    $1200 - $200 = $1000 :D

Edit: Latest update, less than $1000.

    $999

    • nVidia Ampere HPC
    • reliable info: GA100 chip with a 6144 Bit HBM2 interface, doubled Tensor cores per SM
    • reliable info: GA101 chip as half of GA100, so with a 3072 Bit HBM2 interface (chip allegedly canceled recently)
    • not reliable info: GA100 with 8 GPC, each with 8 TPC = leads to 8192 CUDA cores
    • not reliable info: both chips at TSMC 7nm+ (with EUV)

    • nVidia Ampere Gaming
    • not reliable info: 5 gaming chips, all at Samsung 7nm (with EUV)
    • nVidia GA100
    • HPC / professional solution of the Ampere generation
    • 8 Graphics Processing Cluster (GPC) with each 16 Streaming Multiprocessors (SM) and each 8 Texture Processing Clusters (TPC)
    • each SM most likely contains (as before) 64 CUDA cores (CU) with 4 Texture Mapping Units (TMU), but 16 Tensor cores (doubled from Ampere)
    • gives a total of 128 Streaming Multiprocessors, which contain a total of 8192 CUDA cores, 512 TMUs and 2048 Tensor cores
    • PCI Express 4.0 (own assumption, but probably)
    • 7nm+ (EUV) from TSMC
    • launch sometime in 2020 (other news points to first half of 2020)

All I want from the 3000 series cards are some performance gains and for them to have native HDMI 2.1 and hopefully DisplayPort 2.0 connections

    So True^!.....They never test a 3950x or a 9900ks with anything less than a 2080ti.

    No.

    Just no.

They were always working on 7nm products since 7nm became available to them. 3000 series isn't coming out because of RDNA 2. That line of thinking just makes no logical sense.

They are bringing out the cards anyway, I agree. After all, they need cash flow in 2020 just as much as in 2010.

I'll change my CPU when it'll be a noticeable limiting factor at 4K, not while it's <5%

5820K - 3080-ti next year? i want 4K raytracing no DLSS, give me my real time movie CGI experience in games. Think i'll start putting money on the side starting now...

Doubt it. I dont think they want to commit hara kiri to their business. Their market share is too sacred to risk losing. I think Ampere will be cheaper.

the GA102 part is likely going to be <1100
the GA104 part is likely going to be <700

    However, This is RRP.

Actual Retail price will depend on stock availability, and I'm hearing some potential bad things that could impact stock, one of them being that EUV can manage 1500 wafers a day, while ArF immersion can do 6000

This isn't true at all. While AMD did announce a number of years ago they were no longer going to compete for high end graphics, this was reversed over a year ago in an announcement from Lisa Su.

Pulling out of high end was a business mistake by the last ceo.
