Surprised no one posted this yet. Looks amazing I must say, and much more dark and visceral than its predecessor:
Game will have 5 classes at launch, and will be a completely seamless open world with no loading screens. Mounts will be used for traversal. No word on the launch date yet, but I'm assuming it will be sometime next year.
Never been my type of game but this looks more like I thought Diablo 3 would look like. Brutal and nasty.
And there is once again a 15s cooldown on life potions... so we can carry like 50+ now, but we still have a cooldown. And there are no mana potions? So it really is a weird blend between D2 and D3 mechanics. It's too early to judge... we'll see.
This makes me a tiny bit exited as I've been waiting for a proper gore filled sequel to Diablo and Diablo II for 20 years. Activision Blizzard have a long way to go though (will have to show me a lot more) and I'm just a little worried about the whole "open world" and always online (drm) aspect of the game. I would also have preferred a linear story (they claim you can still play like that) and not having to interact with other players through immersion breaking hubs. Also they say they went back to the dark theme (still looked a bit bright and wowlike to me above ground; please show us more of your weather system), but at least they seem to have got the animations right, but it won't feel like a Diablo game if they can't get the ambience or music right and I still think the music of Diablo II is the best one written and they should build upon that. However it better be f2p on Steam and run on Linux, because I'm not giving Activision Blizzard money, but y'all know what happens on launch...
Wallet slammed to the table... "shut up and take my money!!!" was yelled!... My body is very much ready! My only real hope is that they will build a bit more dynamic end game. D3 with its seasons that were eventually introduced were alright but it just gets a bit stale after a while, give me a real reason to login day after day, month after month, year after year!
Well dudes, don't expect this game anytime soon. And by "soon," I'm talking as far away as 2023. That's according to the D4 panel at Blizzcon. While Blizzard is well known for extremely long development cycles, I think everyone was overly excited by todays announcement and thought the game would be releasing late next year or in 2021 due to how polished the graphics and gameplay looked. But the release date will be several years into the future there's no doubt. By the time Diablo IV releases, the current gen consoles will be relegated to last gen, which will be good for the game in the long run I'd say.
Take my money. It'll most likely take a few years but I'm choo choo. This will be THE game. Happy days.
