Wow... looks like the engine to go to in the next years got to be UE.

And we look at this, how good it looks, how good it runs unoptimized... and the biggest PC game is Fortnite. "GG"

    o_O:(

Looks nice, even if you slow it down.

I like the comments from the developer on this:

Those trees should have been ripped to shreds in seconds with so much debris flying around, and at wind speed which looks like its over 150mph judging by how fast the debris cross the screen.
And that lamp post still standing ? No way...

That is a Level 4-5 hurricane level storm... even the buildings would be smashed to bits with most windows broken.

They went overboard with the amount of trash in the air. Where did that stuff come from, huh? Or maybe I've been spoiled by living in a relatively clean country, who knows.

    It looked really good, though.

Bad ass tech demo. Still can not believe it was running on that specific hardware, but if so then WHOOOOOHOOOOOOO for us!!

And these comments about the weather and how it should actually be is seriously sad and interesting at the same time.

Seems like off of one video of a few seconds people are meteorologists over night. Simply professionals being able to dissect this video and get so much real time information from it!!

Who'd of thought it could be possible......

Yeah, looks great, very impressive! They obviously chose about the most violent storm possible, so I wonder if it would look less realistic if they chose something less violent, maybe simulating an ultra violent storm is easier to impress.

  14. I don't understand why would anyone even mention optimization for a prototype scene with just 20 trees and a few physical meshes :)
Seriously, having something work in a prototype scene, with a few meshes in front of camera and make it work in full scale, ideally open-world, game are 2 completely different tasks.

But yeah, it looks nice. Hopefully we will see something similar in next-gen games.

I feel like I've been waiting forever for all these cool looking tech demo visuals to actually show up in games and amaze us all. Not that current games look horrible by any means, but I thought we'd be further along by now. I remember being a kid and thinking that we'd have photo realistic games to play in 15-20 years. Young me was way off on that one.

Amen to that. The increase in gfx quality the last 10 years has been very disappointing to me.

Well, developers and environment artists work to limitations imposed on them by the hardware and, it is a sort of competition as to how impressive your images look.

I dont say this much but, that is procreating amazing weather effect. forget about endless " photo realistic" stuff they show that isnt even close to it.

this weather effect looks ridiculous and it on 970? then again this static camera sence a open world scene might be diffrent

I think it looks pretty good. The only blemish is that the tree are too elastic, they would snap at that speed of whipping back and forth.
