I might be just one of those who are on the more "easy side" of playing, but I don't necessarily fancy playing over the same things thirty times because it's DS like :D
For me personally it needs to be a good mix... I don't mind dying, but at the same time, I want to not lose the grip on the story... I don't want to spend four days on a boss, but somewhat live through the story as well... sort of playing along a movie. It's SW after all.

But yeah, it looks easy (those ATST blasters practically doing no damage even on a hit), but I guess there will be a setting for everybody's wishes.

I just hope it's not too bad on the story, not too monotonous. The last SW movies I saw weren't as... catching as previous ones. But this is not the time to make movies that get people to think anyway... it's supposed to be an entertaining franchise first and foremost.

Still looking forward to it. Singleplayer titles are rare these days, the more good ones the better.

Yeah, I do hope that the difficulty ramps up (if you look at the AT-ST "bossfight", it looks piss-easy). I don't mind Easy being easy, but I also want Hard to be hard (but fair, if it can be done). As for story, I hope it's at least on the level of Jedi Outcast (Kyle was a nice protagonist - one that I've actually liked), without going too much into cliches and repetitions. I would also like something akin to TIE Fighter, where you actually are an imperial, but after the SP story of Battlefront 2, I don't think that will ever come true.

While I get what you mean, entertaining isn't supposed to mean poorly written.

Absolutely not. Although, I dare say, modern day scripts don't fancy having the audience use their brain beyond interpreting lensflare and CGI orgies.
But I was more referring to the SW franchise being aimed towards non mature, adolescent target groups, and with that, less graphical violence than actually happens.

Sure, I don't mind SW not having hardcore sex (that's what porn is for :D) or hyper-realistic blood. I do, however, mind when it just slides to overly safe remakes, followed by poorly written nonsense and political pandering (of any kind, really). This is why I think Rogue One is a solid movie, the rest is... not (Solo was 5/10, it was okay, level, but R1 was just much better)

I have not yet seen anything beyond Rogue one, but it already felt... a bit boring. And imho didn't really fit into the SW universe... it just felt closer to Guardians of the Galaxy than any other SW movie. If you exchange names and the graphical style of the ships, fighters, uniforms, it would have easily passed as any other movie.
I probably won't seek out any other SW movies, at some point they will be played on TV, that's when I'll see them. I don't even fancy ordering yet another streaming service (Disney+) to watch them, let alone going to the movies for 20€ or more.

And... that's how they kill a franchise for old fans just to cater to the "new" fans, e.g. kids and people that haven't even seen the original movies and will cope with just about anything.

Sure SW doesn't need hardcore sex or overly graphic violence, but just what happened in the cantina in Mos Eisley (Han shooting the Greedo, Obi Wan cutting off a hand), it was more graphic and brutal than any of the new movies imho. Or maybe it was just my opinion, who knows. At least cut off limbs is essential to SW, everybody loses something, especially in the Skywalker clan.

Trust me, you're not missing out on much with the new movies. I believe their point is to sneak a soft reboot into the franchise (mostly by killing and destroying the previous stuff). Feel free to give them a pass (as I will be giving the upcoming one). Let's just hope that this game will be decent. It's literally the first EA published game after almost a decade that I would consider buying.

  8. "Miss use of company assets" - the Frank Marshall connect that brought modern era Star Wars. Ironic; you never hear about his success. Yeah ... Lucas became a dumbass & married Disney royalty.

Far as the use of Disney+ to access more SW content; that won't be the only way. I am not condoning nor recommending anything yet simply stating a fact.

Bob Iger I feel is to blame for instigating what has ultimately become of the Star Wars franchise.

  11. Oh sure! I was being a little smarmy.

Frank Marshall is the longtime husband of Kathleen Kennedy the current president of Lucasfilm. Marshall's a known titan in the production realm of Hollywood. (The connect)

Ironic because far as I can tell her marriage has been one of the greatest power couples of Hollywood and furthermore activist neo-feminism she's propagated is endemic of "unrealistic independence" being directly correlated with the strong female archetype. We all rely on the opposite sex. On our connections and friendships. I don't hate men. I dislike toxic people. The Force is Female - why? Was it ever a gender-fied issue to begin with?

    Miss-use of company assets
    - basically for the aforementioned reasons; even Lucas at one point called Star Wars a family soap opera. It's clear the IP has never been a platform for activism or a snapshot of social commentary or one's view of it; rather an escape from it. Fantasy may take ques from the strains of the times but it's always had a common thread of pulling the reader/viewer/player out of their time. How can that happen if there are direct correlations to it? (a stretch to be fair but still on point)

As for Disney+ (The antithesis being piracy)

  12. He did keep hiring terrible people / renewing their contracts; implying something about himself as well.

Ah, thanks for explaining. And yes, it's a space opera about a dysfunctional family he once said, or something along the lines :D

I didn't even realise the force was now female... I thought it was everything. But yeah, not that there was an issue with it before...

From what i gathered till now the combat might be like in Batman Arkham Knight where groups consist of several enemy types you can only overcome with specific approaches.
Since that's kinda random it would make combat quite interesting & challenging on higher skill levels.
The videos havent shown this yet.

  15. It's not and hasn't become honestly; again me poking some fun. There was a Nike Campaign that ran for a while and Kennedy liked wearing their promo shirt to Star Wars events to draw ire in my opinion as the tagline was "The Force is Female" The only thing that's slightly been genderized are her arguments really. I don't think anyone side of production or crew involved with current Star Wars film-making has any qualms or issues about anything but intending to just make good story. Sad thing being; if there's bad leadership at the helm, you get inconsistent results.

Let's look at Disney's other major subsidiary - Marvel; their MCU helmed by Kevin Fiege. Very consistent results there. All from the original Iron Man back in 2007, that's unheard of.

  16. Consistent results... Financially? Yes, probably. But qualitywise, it's mostly trash.

yea the MCU overall has been good very good.

the mcu was also solely under feigies control disney was kept hands off it also.

and yea there are tons of bad movies in the mcu the early capt america, iron man was ok but no dark knight, thor? so many bland enemies and plot lines, then you get the home runs like winter soldier, civil war, end game and they did enough to tie things together to please the fans. but there is ton you could skip and not miss much but a few nods if your were into the comic stuff if not? you missed nothing.

now it seems the mouse is calling the shots there.

Did anyone complain when Knights of the Old Republic ( the greatest Star Wars game of all time) didn't have limbs being cut off? No.

that also came out what 20 years ago?

yea it like we devolving. berserk games wo dismemberment when the ps2 game had it. star wars in the 70s having it.

and that metal gear game where you could dice your targets to pieces? that is about what a lightsaber would do to a person.

instead of "new" and innovative features like being able to disarm people by taking their hands off with a parry move and so on would have been a nod to the og era where we had some violence.

and you can stil neuter that for the more snowflake markets that do not want their people thinking anything remotely edgy or challenging. :p

Hey believe me man, I am totally against the snowflake, triggered, sjw's. What I'm saying is that you can have a great Star Wars game without cutting storm troopers in half. In the end I just want a good story driven Star Wars game. KOTOR is nearly 20 years old and was not under Disney's control yet it is, and still is one of the best SW games ever.
