Radeon Software 19.9.3 (aka RIS for Vega driver)

Later today we will be posting Radeon Software version 19.9.3. While this driver update was primarily intended to provide Ghost Recon Breakpoint support we also heard loud and clear (primarily from you reddit users) great demand for Radeon Image Sharpening (RIS) support for Vega class products. I am very happy to announce that today's update will indeed include RIS support for Vega and I further wanted to apologize for miscalculating the order in which we released the supported products.

I hope that everyone that wanted this feature will enjoy it and for those not familiar with it please check it out and let us know your impressions.

Support For

• Radeon Image Sharpening
  • Now available on Radeon VII, Radeon RX Vega 64, Radeon RX Vega 56 and Radeon Vega Frontier Edition graphics products for DirectX®12 and Vulkan® applications.

Fixed Issues

• Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice™ may exhibit texture corruption during later parts of the game.
• Discord™ may experience an application hang on Radeon RX 5700 series graphics products when HW acceleration is enabled.

Known Issues

• Toggling HDR may cause system instability during gaming when Radeon ReLive is enabled.
• Display artifacts may be experienced on some 75hz display configurations on Radeon RX 5700 series graphics system configurations.
• Call of Duty®: Black Ops 4 may experience stutter on some system configurations.
• Open Broadcasting Software™ may experience frame drops or stutter when using AMF encoding on some system configurations.
• HDMI® overscan and underscan options may be missing from Radeon Settings on AMD Radeon VII system configurations when the primary display is set to 60hz.
• Stutter may be experienced when Radeon FreeSync is enabled on 240hz refresh displays with Radeon RX 5700 series graphics products.
• AMD Radeon VII may experience elevated memory clocks at idle or on desktop.

Breakpoint improvements of some kind plus implementation CAS on Vega not bad.
Existing issues with Navi are still a thing but can be worked around for the most part, seems the driver cleanup and reinstall also landed me on the DCH drivers (U*.inf instead of C*.inf) so that explains a couple of other changes I've seen.

What else might there be in these well profile wise the PXDynamic HighPerfGPU flag was extended to also cover the Breakpoint_Upp.exe (Uplay Plus version game exe.) and that looks to be it for here.

EDIT: Ah and the long standing Sekiro texture issue got fixed plus another Chromium and CEF issue with Discord and the 5700(XT) / Navi10


EDIT: Oh and for the blackscreen issue with Navi10 since it's not a display driver crash a restart of the display stack via Winkey, Ctrl, Shift and B should clear it up until it occurs again.

 

Just a friendly reminder the ChillEnabled dword is still invalid so you will need go into the registry delete the key, and the create a new dword 32 bit key named ChillEnabled and set the dword 1 and then reboot. If you delete it and reboot it will just recreate the invalid dword.

 

Any chance for RIS on Fury?

 

No new features for R9 series will ever happen again. AMD has RX series for a while now.

 

Why cant they fix that? They are aware of it already.

Yeah you know...but it will get fixed when they get around to it. Even though it is annoying at least we have an easy fix for chill.

 

Very quick to check. Doesn't look like this one is WHQL. Last one is. Don't remember them being signed two releases in a row...
Anyways, WHQL doesn't mean no issues. Non-signed doesn't mean there will be an issue for you.

 

It will usually take 7-9 days to get WHQL status once the beta driver is out.

if polaris has it , there is a possibility since tonga/fiji are very similar architecturally. really depends on whether amd has additional time to implement it.
Often things like this get left unfinished, not because they don't want to , but because its low priority.

No need to wait.

The drivers are signed but not yet "BLESSED" by the holy Microsoft...aka they have not received their tithe just yet and gave their blessing. Not one bit will change between now and then. Remember this whole entire driving signing thing from MS was just a method to generate income for the MS priests.
