New Upcoming ATI/AMD GPU's Thread: Leaks, Hopes & Aftermarket GPU's

Confused by XFX. Going by their naming and claims of '90% larger heatsink', the RX 5700XT THICC would be the thickest. Instead it is a '2.7 slot' card compared to the '2.9 slot' of the RAW II with a '50% larger heatsink'.

ASRock’s upcoming Radeon RX 5700 XT OC+ graphics card has been unveiled in the latest set of pictures by Videocardz.
The custom design, featuring the top of the line Taichi design is expected to hit market shelves soon for a little premium over the reference models.

ASRock was the first manufacturer to announce the custom-designed Radeon RX 5700 graphics cards and now they are further expanding their Radeon RX 5700 series lineup.
The latest addition to the lineup would be the ASRock Radeon RX 5700 XT OC+, a triple-fan, and 2.5 slot design which offers similar aesthetics as ASRock’s Taichi motherboard lineup.

The ASRock Taichi series graphics cards were first spotted by us at Computex 2019 in a prototype state. ASRock showcased three designs back at the Computex floor with two following their new Phantom Gaming style and one model following their Taichi style. The final model looks similar to the concept design along with some cosmetic changes.

First up, ASRock has a dual-tone shroud design which comes in champagne gold and black colors. There are three fans on the shroud, two of which are 100mm and a single fan in the middle which is smaller than the rest. This fan has an acrylic design to make it glow with the RGB LEDs encircling it. The card makes use of ASRock’s Polychrome Sync technology which would operate the RGBs on this card. The card comes ina 2.5 slot design and has an extended PCB to support the custom lay-out. The sides of the card seem to feature a LED display that features the Taichi logo in the middle and monitoring stats on the sides.

The Radeon RX 5700 XT Taichi OC seems to get power through dual 8-pin connectors which showcases that the PCB would be pretty decent for overclocking the 7nm Navi 10 GPU. On the back of the card, we can see spot a stunning backplate that has the Taichi logo and the Taichi gear design spread all over. Remember that the concept model had RGBs on the back too but honestly, the new design looks much better and sleek. There are two heatsink blocks underneath the shroud which are interconnected by large heat pipes to dissipate heat from the chip, VRMs and the memory.

I care little for looks, but 4x DP + 2x HDMI? That's like one of those Pro cards except this takes more than 1 slot.

 

Any news on Gigabyte's Aorus cards for the RX 5700? Only the 5700 XT Gaming is for pre-order right now, wich i can get but i'm quiet fond of their Aorus line up.
Other then my RAM and PSU, everything is from Aorus atm and i can't get enough of it lol.

 

SAPPHIRE RX 5700 NITRO gets three fans

The teaser only shows a part of the card, but it does tell us that the card is rather long, as the cooler expands beyond the board.
This is a common design approach to triple-fan cooling solutions.

The board also features dual 8-pin power connectors and something that appears to be an RGB strip going throughout the length of the card.

The RX 5700 NITRO series will be kept in black and silver color scheme, which is more or less,
the most popular choice among graphics cards manufacturers these days.

The SAPPHIRE NITRO series is expected to launch very soon.

Finally a nitro series lets hope it wont be that much of a premium.

 

Wanted to buy a pulse but i'll either get the thicc2 or the msi mech or wait for msi gaming X... I just can't make myself buy a gpu with only two years warranty when there are gpus with 3 years warranty, considering the over 400 euros price. After my last rx480 died after 2.5 years and if it wouldn't have been for msi's 3 year warranty, i would not have gotten my refund.

 

VESA Updates DisplayHDR Standard with Tighter Specifications and New DisplayHDR 1400 Performance Level



The Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA ) today announced that it has published the first major update to its widely adopted High-Performance Monitor and Display Compliance Test Specification (DisplayHDR), which is the display industry's first fully open standard specifying high dynamic range (HDR) quality. The updated spec, DisplayHDR version 1.1, includes tighter performance requirements, including for luminance and color gamut, as well as new test requirements, such as for active dimming, to address recent advances in HDR technology. Companies can begin certifying their display products under the new DisplayHDR 1.1 spec today. In addition, VESA will continue to allow products to be certified under the previous DisplayHDR 1.0 spec through the end of May 2020 in order to allow for products already in development that have been designed to meet the original spec, which was published in November 2017.In related news, VESA also announced that it has added a new 1400 performance level to the DisplayHDR standard, which targets professional content creators. The DisplayHDR 1400 level requires a dynamic contrast ratio that is 3.5X greater than the DisplayHDR 1000 level. ASUS will demonstrate the industry's first pre-certified display for the DisplayHDR 1400 spec at IFA 2019, being held in Berlin, Germany, September 6-11, in Messe Berlin in Hall 12, Booth 110. These latest developments reflect continued strong momentum for the DisplayHDR standard, which has more than 125 display models certified under the logo program to date.

"Since we launched the DisplayHDR compliance test specification nearly two years ago, display manufacturers have made excellent progress in refining the performance and capabilities of their HDR displays beyond what was originally defined in the standard. To represent the gains that the display ecosystem has made in that time, VESA has updated the DisplayHDR standard with substantially tighter performance metrics," stated Roland Wooster, chairman of the VESA task group responsible for DisplayHDR, and the association's representative from Intel Corporation for HDR display technology. "While systems that already received DisplayHDR certification under the existing 1.0 spec are not required to recertify their products under DisplayHDR version 1.1, we believe that many of the systems that passed the original spec will also pass the new 1.1 spec. Going forward, we expect that the majority of new devices will be certified to DisplayHDR 1.1, resulting in an even greater and more consistent HDR experience for consumers."

The DisplayHDR 1.1 specification includes a number of key performance updates, such as:

• Active dimming - DisplayHDR now mandates active dimming performance levels, a feature that when adopted in displays can reduce power consumption and yield significantly darker black levels
• DisplayID accuracy - ensures that accurate luminance and color gamut data is populated in the DisplayID or legacy Extended Display Identification Data (EDID), which enables the GPU to optimize the video signal for that display to ensure the highest display performance
• Dual corner box test - the black-level test has been updated with larger corner box structures to allow for accurate colorimeter measurement of both black and white levels, resulting in improved dynamic contrast ratio testing
• New color gamut specifications - DisplayHDR now includes a 10 percent color patch test in addition to the 100 percent full screen color test, with both tests now using the display's maximum luminance and RGB primary color values from the DisplayID/EDID; this revised test method more accurately determines the color gamut that will render on the display when running Windows
• Combined color luminance - DisplayHDR has added a mechanism to validate full color volume at the full logo level luminance
• New Delta-ITP test - added to test that the luminance level on the display is correctly rendered, helping to ensure the faithful reproduction of the original content creator's intent (luminance, and D65 white balance)
• On-screen display (OSD) mode indication - any DisplayHDR-certified monitor with an on-screen menu function must now clearly indicate which modes support DisplayHDR, making it easier for users to optimize their display settings
• DisplayPort certification specification - any DisplayHDR-certified monitor that has a DisplayPort interface must also undergo DisplayPort certification, ensuring that the display performs optimally with VESA DisplayPort-certified cables and other peripherals

DisplayHDR 1400: A New HDR Performance Level for Content Creators
In addition to updating the DisplayHDR compliance test specification (CTS), VESA has also introduced a new 1400 performance tier targeting professional content creators. This higher, premium performance tier provides a 40 percent increase in luminance and a 2.5X reduction in black level compared to the DisplayHDR 1000 tier - increasing the contrast range by 350 percent. Color gamut performance requirements have also been increased for the first time, from 90 percent to 95 percent of DCI-P3-D65 - a visibly noticeable difference compared to the 500/600/1000 tiers. Another key feature of the new DisplayHDR 1400 tier is that it requires 900 nits of brightness for full-screen long-duration (30 minute) testing, which provides for a rock-solid stable luminance-based display for professional and prosumer video editing.

September 16th it seems at least for initial stock (And..gone. ) wonder what they can actually do beyond the third fan and a extended PCB as I assume the caps are still there for memory and overall clock results will be just about the same as the other 5700's but we'll see.
(Should be a interesting comparison against the other tri slot Red Dragon too and Strix though that one has a higher price point but who knows what Nitro+ here will do in terms of cost until Sapphire makes a regular Nitro or just keeps with the Pulse variant both of which could happen.)

EDIT: Ah an MSRP of 480 Euro so that's going to be interesting to see how that transitions into local pricing and supply and demand affecting cost too.
(The Pulse XT model depending on availability is hovering around 520 Euro for comparison but is mostly out of stock.)


EDIT: The driver issues with hardware acceleration and occasional game BSOD's do need to be de-screwed though so that's important as well and then we'll see when the 5600 (Navi14?) and 5800 (Navi12?) lands later this year or early next year perhaps?

Hmm, are we sure this matters?

I've read/watched a fair few 5700 XT reviews and while many are able to bump core clocks, sometimes substantially, the impact on actual performance seem negligible. The cards appear to be almost entirely memory limited, even more so than Vega, and the current memory controller can't seem to handle anything beyond really minor overclocks.

I think we'll have to wait for either a silicon revision or the 5800 series to get better performance.
