What the hell is your problem mods?! Memes are not fail, memes are better than crap movies people pay money to watch. The hell you merge memes into fail thread? Memes are freedom and expression of thoughts. You got issues with people expressing thoughts? Spoiler p.s. and what the hell is going on with UK? https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-49493632
The number of times we got the freedom of speech and double standard arguments thrown at us just staggering and a bit easy don't you agree? There has been a recent trend that all comments are replied to with a meme or YT video, rather annoyingly. I mean every now and then that can serve a purpose sure. Once you pass a threshold ... it's just annoying really. The last time I checked, this is a discussion forum, you know as in people typing and talking about stuff. So let's try and keep that standard high and not lower it to the level of memes.
That said, and not specifically referred to topics, we do not know what the staff / mods keep track of in lists etc. Who's got infringements etc. But one thing's for sure, what flies these days in the forums (in terms of vocabulary) would have gotten people (temp) banned a few years back when I arrived at these boards. One used to get a warning when one asked people to go back under the rocks they came from... oh well And movie discussions aren't even the thing, how many threads do we usually get to one driver... only works in the AMD section, Nvidia regularly has 3 threads for one driver.
Well, we've eased up on moderation over the years. The side effect of that is that things can go 'the other way'. It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't kind of thing.
Realistically, it's Hilberts board, therefore, Hilbert's rules. This isn't Twitter or Facebook or some large entity where an unbiased social network needs to be had for all intents and purposes. This is a hardware board and the off-topic section of any forum tends to get toxic. I will say some of the mods here lack a balance in my screen name at times and can be biased. Which I find upsetting because they're not Hilbert. Not to put the guys balls down my throat, but he puts in the time and dedication, for 2 decades now? He can dictate the forums how he sees fit and I have no issue with it. It's the people under him with a small amount of power that get abusive and make irrational decisions at times. That would be my only negative comment here. The Don has more important sh it to tend to, I would assume. So I don't fault him for this. It is what it is. Some subjects will be closed. Some will go on longer than they should (do you sit or stand when you pee). Some will get multiple threads (drivers), some won't (memes).
I wonder if 1 day @vbetts says something way off and gets banned. Spoiler ok guys this is totally doesnt seem right https://www.bbc.com/news/live/uk-politics-49495567
I've still not peed yet... Nope...not going to post a meme either...even though I have an epic one just for this situation.
Where can I sign up for the meme news letter? Fair enough. Just noticed it, and as long as staff keeps track, I guess we will have to do with it. At least the reviews, for which I am here, are still good, and so is generally any help you receive on the forums. And discussion culture is not dead, I myself had some discussions here that were polite although disagreeable. That also exists.
