    Think I will try some different bios for my machine and see if there is any movement in what I see to a plus or negative.

    EDIT 19.31pm.
    I found today by chance that when I disabled SMT rebooted and then enabled SMT and rebooted that My processor 3600 was now working properly with dynamic clocks and not locked @4.1Ghz.

    EDIT: Well for 15 mins. Its gone back as it was to 4.1Ghz on all cores. Looks like MSI really need to sort out there B450 Bios.

    Btw, I got the tip to enable C-state in BIOS (instead of Auto) which can fix idle problems with programs like iCUE, Steam and others.

    Got the same CB (Single Core) score as you. Max boost at that time was 4500MHz if I remember correctly.

    You haven't thought about doing a manual OC until a better BIOS is released?

    I also get 209 single core CPU, with stock settings, and just the IF and Mem clock at 3800/1900. :)
    3800X. 3 runs, all 209 cb

    I'm idling at 3.8GHz though.
    All cores at 3.8, 0.6% CPU usage.
    any one else getting high idle speeds on all cores ?

    Ryzen balanced power thing.

    Im using 3200/1600 RAM.
    Idle is almost permanent at 4.2-4.3Ghz.

    EDIT: Just rechecked the Chipset and noticed i still had the old ones.
    Idle clocks now frequently goes down.

    I can confirm that my cpu clocks down to ~2.0GHz.

    EDIT: But only without Icue and Razer Synapse activated.

    Yeah, but isn't the Ryzen power plan there for a reason ? Like the Core affinity and stuff ?

    The theory is, if you have a 3600 like me. Then to lower your memory at down 3000Mhz and tighten your timings. This can give 3800Mhz performance in most cases.
    But if you have a 3600 like me then it is advisable not to use ram faster than 3400MHz as the infinity fabric on this chip will struggle to support it.

    I have a 3600 and what i actually noticed when i put my memory to 3600 and the fabric is at 1800, the bios itself becomes a bit laggy, but other than that i didnt have any problem with 3600, but once i tried 3733 and infinity to half 1867 my friend the bios went from laggy to just totally blocked.

    I can hit 1900 no probs with 3800X, 2000 didnt work, but i'm not sure anyone has gone above 1900.

    So 1.0.0.2 boosts higher, 1.0.0.3 reduces the boost by adding a different thermal limit (~5 degrees lower.) and also adding a new state for it though if PBO is on this is disabled.
    1.0.0.4 isn't changing anything here so it looks like this is going to stay and it might nor might not impact CPU lifetime though to what extent is unknown and AMD isn't saying but I assume good cooling will ensure there's no issues and also allows for a good boost speed if it can maintain the new somewhat lower temperature limit and what other changes there might be between the older and newer AGESA versions.

    Could also be review or benchmark related if AMD was pushing for 1.0.0.2 to be used for testing and then dialed it back a bit but that's speculative and having the CPU run hot will shorten it's lifetime but by how much is reliant on several factors.

    Thought it good info for overclocking and general Ryzen details and the new processors here and stuff like boosting, motherboard variances in speed and all that though I don't really have much knowledge on this at all but I find it fascinating and having a lot of free time I'm trying to read up a bit on how it all works with very mixed results. :D

    This seemed useful though. :)
    (Post up there is about a week and a half but going back a page showed no direct mention of it.)

    This makes no sense at all. I know people running a 3700X with water cooling, where the CPU temp never goes above 62 under FULL load.
    It boosts to 4300 / 4275 max on a single core and does around 4175 all cores in CB20.
    Running with 62 deg C CPU temp, should easily boost to 4400 MHz since Ryzen Master says 95 deg C is the limit.

    At least according to RM.

    My 3700x just hit 4.513 on one core for a ms. :) Scored 509 SC and 5040 MC on R20. Holds 4.335 to 4.360 in games now as well. I have to say, this is the best $300 cpu I've bought in years! Even with the teething issues it's been a lot of fun tweaking. I don't believe I'll try pushing it any further though till I finish my external wall mount custom loop. Should have it finished by next week. :) Would be nice to see it consistently hit 4.5 on the other cores. Even if it is just during background tasks. Should have no issue holding 4.4 in games then. Guess we'll find out.

    In case anyone want's to try my settings.

    1.0.0.3abb, latest chipset driver.

    PBO Manual=PPT 124, TDC 75, EDC 115, Auto OC +175 Scalar x9. I have to adjust Package power limit to get PPT to move on my gigabyte board, it's in a different place than the XFR or PBO options for power limits. If I don't adjust both PBO and XFR to manual in both areas, for PPT, TDC, and EDC, it doesn't have any effect on my boost freq and will boost same as default roughly. All 3 are set just above what they max out, but for EDC, anything above 115 and performance and boosts tank back to normal.

    Also to add, I tried all options for AutoOC from +25 to +200 with scalar x1-x10, the only 2 options that boost at all to 4.4 or above is +175 and +200. None of the other options with Scalar 1-10 have any effect on boosts. +175 was the option that seems to boost more regularly. +200 was not nearly as often. Ymmv

    Hope this helps someone, I've spent a lot of hours to make this thing even hit the advertised clocks. Seeing it go higher is even sweeter. Good Luck!
