I'm a stubborn old fart that doesn't want Windows 10 (For many reasons including the fact I use Windows 10 at work and I think it's crap because it's always trying to think for me.) Anyway, my tired build while in perfect functionality is losing it's once great gaming capability. Tell me if I'm wrong, but what if I simply retired my 2 GTX 660Ti GPU's and 16 GB of 2133Mhz RAM and for an upgrade just went with a nice GTX 1060 card and DDR3 RAM at 3000Mhz? (16gb X 16GB.) When prices fall I could always add a second GTX 1060 for an SLI boost. I feel like my big issue with intensive gaming now is mainly my GPU and RAM and not CPU related. True that my overclocked i5 Ivy is a bit stale, but it's still a capable processor.
You certainly can switch to a single 1060 GPU even on Win7 but for faster ram better check your mobo specs (max ram speed)

Windows 7 will still have patches available beyond 2020, microsoft are daft if they think those paid for patches won't end up on the internet.
everything ends up on the internet, the guess how many people will really know this and where to go and be able to manually do this? other then the techie people which is the *minority* here alot people here seem to get that the techie people are in minority. This is why told my uncle your pc is getting upgrade to win 10 and if it actual activates you gona use it. cause it safer at this point then win7 well as safe as one can be connected to internet
