The Peppergun will murder performance if you don't edit the physx settings.

I have it on Origin, Steam, and CD discs. I don't have any slow down.

Intriguing, it was well established in the past that this game (as well as mirrors edge) required the included physx dll's replaced or deleted for physx to perform well.

on doing a bit of searching back, it would appear that steps for Hybrid physx were mixed up in it all, mirrors edge required the deletion of the file, but in alices case it was only required so that it would use patched hybrid physx files.

I heard American Mgee was working on a new Alice game previously.. it was a while ago but it's good to hear it's still alive. Definitely interested.

apparently not far off from completing licensing arrangements with EA too, the game will be self published and funded via patreon or other means.
EA contacted American on reviving the franchise and told him to do with it what he needs.

i had alice on disk it been awhile but i never recall having to mod it because of fps, the platforming nature more put me off, not much into platformers anymore, but alice and etc.

i maybe recall some dips in some of the platforming sections but i cant recall if that was tied to the weapon or not. nor what hardware i had at the time.

just got a bunch of my disks maybe my alice disks will be in there. pulled all my id disks sofar.

I have owned the First Alice game on CD but one day got sick of having 1000 Games on CD and tossed them all in the garbage.Lost a lot of games that day.
Like anything all kinds of games and never played them,so now after years I want to play this game.I am enjoying the crazy kooky nature of the game.

It's Unreal engine that stops at times ,hitches and I do not know how to fix that part of the game. Physx is fine in the game ,yes it can slow down but not a problem at all.

@Astyanax Thanks for the link ,interesting on new game but not sure if I would become a patron of the new game.

LOL I may finish the Alice Madness Returns before I finish Battlefield 5 on single player and that's just sad for me.

My mistake I do not have Madness Returns on CD or Origin. I got a little confused But I do have Alice Madness Returns on Steam and it runs great, didn't have to modify any files.

The first game is even better, done by Nine Inch Nails' Chris Vrenna. Hell he even did a little bit in Alice Returns.

I had this game on disc and I had to manually edit .ini files to remove 30 fps cap, apart from that ran fine on hardware at the time (Core 2 Duo and GTX 460 I think).

Really liked the game and cool that a new one is in the works.

Also had the first Alice and liked that too but it had aged pretty badly when I played it, ofc gfxwise but controls were janky as well.

The latter game was a big improvement in this area, combat was very fluent.
