Well, you can try&use Nvidia's DSR (I presume you have Nvidia from your profile) to play at a higher resolution (don¨t bother with anything else than 4x = 4k in your case - anything less has it's own shimmering) and see if it helps. Bear in mind that you will most likely not reach 144Hz with a GTX 970, and that the menus will be smaller - scaling issues with per pixel GUI.

Been on 4K60 for the last 3 years, after being on 1440p144Hz for around a year (before monitor died).

BF4 on 1440p144Hz might have been some of the best game experience i had regarding FPS games. Looking forward to 4K144Hz (with RTX 4080-Ti ?! ).

I'll try 4K 60hz on my TV and see how it plays in BF4/BFV. :p

Good way to try out AMD's Anti-Lag feature as well on such a resolution it should benefit.

1440p 60Hz 27" monitor. In Hell Let Loose I've turned some details down to run 150% resolution at around 60fps so my 1070 gets a real work out

I feel a 5700 XT could well be finding it's way into my PC quite soon ;)

I just think it's funny we can't stop saying 1080p and 1440p. When was the last time anyone used interlaced?

1440p 60hz usually I lock it in at. 4k is nice and all, but I can hardly tell a difference between 1440p and 4k.

1080p, 60 fps. Good enough for me. I do use as much dsr as possible for games with subpar AA.

Dsr 2.25x is 2880x1620 that should be enough to mild it a lot.

I have a 34 ultrawide screen with a native resolution of 2560x1080 but the screen is simply too big for that so i use Nvidia´s DSR to play at 3413x1440. This is the perfect size for a screen this big and the games look amazing!

In my experience, it depends on the game. In Doom, I'm unable to tell much difference between 2.5K and 4K, but in Fallout 4 (heavily modded with hi-res textures) I am able to see significant differences. In general, I prefer my 2.5K/165Hz monitor for fast-paced games, but for slower-paced games with a lot of eye candy (or which can be modded with eye candy), 4K is hard to beat.

1440p is already a really high resolution when it comes for pixel density, ur naked eye will not tell the difference ofc, and to me this will be the sweet spot for future gaming, 1440p 144hrz, it will be the norm

Force transparency multisampling for that game in the game's profile in the nvidia control panel by forcing MSAA. 4xMSAA + transparency multisampling should help a lot. So set the "Antialiasing" to 4x and in the "Transparency" setting select "Multisampling." With a more powerful GPU you could use "Supersampling" instead, but with a 970 this will probably tank your FPS.

(The screenshot is just something I googled to show you where the settings are. Do not set this option globally. Set it only for the CS:GO driver profile.)

29" HDR ultrawide @ 2560x1080 75hz. Easy to drive and nice upgrade over standard 1080p.

I'm too cheap to go any flavor of 4k or 120hz+ at this point in my life.

Yeah, 4k 144 hz reqruires some serious power... i really really hope that nvidia gives us a significant performance increase with ampere, cause the performance increase with turing was very modest, and when you factor in the price, then it's down right laughable!

My res gaming is all over the place these days...
    4k/1080p on my PC
    4k HDR on the XBX
1080p on the Ps4 Pro (simply because it is unusable when pushing CB4k due to the fan going balistic).
    WMR 1440x1440 (per eye)
    CV1 1080x1200(Per eye)
    PSVR 960x1080 (pre eye)

Sometimes i hanker for the simply days of VGA 640x480. lol
