You didnt pick up how 5700xt is faster than 2070S in firestrike but only how its slower in timespy?

That's like 10 times better and more accurate than sharpening done by my gaming monitor. It feels like bit of overkill when comparing those 2 images.
    But here comes real test:
1080p screen with RIS ON vs 1440p with RIS OFF. Screen next to each other. And see if added details would actually be present on 1440p or even 4K.
Because while those details look like they came from almost nowhere, they came from something...

Is that like 32x AF? or 64x AF? Or high precision downsampling? Either way, I see great potential.

Its a night and day difference. It looks like it adds even more detail not only sharpen. Cant wait to see more comparisons.

Wow massive improvement. Between this and gaming lag reduction, amd might have a mega gpu on their hands - and this is only mid tier!

Impressive, I wonder how much fps hit it will take on RX580 :)

It's only available on the 5000 series for whatever reason.

Maybe its heavy on the framerate but then again Vega should be capable. 5700 series needs a selling feature so who knows...

AMD is clearly changing something in TMUs to achieve this. And it may require more/change cache too to minimize performance impact. (As they stated it costs 1~2% only on 5700.)

That I know, but it's gonna be added to other cards too, soon or later.

So you excuse a feature lock when it comes to AMD but don't let go when it comes to Nvidia. Good to know.

Nvidia have blurring feature and amd have sharpening. They both have something ;)

Nvidia's Freestyle does sharpening - how it differs from this idk. Some videos/pictures I've seen I like it, others I don't but honestly that's similar to RIS for me. The Strange Brigade screenshot posted here looks great but the face example they use on the RIS feature website looks like crap in my opinion. Also LTT video they talked about it in various games looking way too overdone and not liking it. In the past using Reshade and Freestyle, big landscape textures I always liked it on but smaller objects, human faces, etc I always feel like it doesn't do a good job, just makes it look fake/cartoon or something, I can't really explain it.

I'm the guy that sets my TV's sharpness to 0 so maybe I'm just weird lol

You are right, performance impact is minimal using 5700. I would very much like to see polaris and vega support.

Also i like how its not developer dependant but a simple toggle. Better than a waiting for year and have it only in a four games, right? :D

Well, even if it costs like 10% performance on older cards, it would be good. Because that may bring IQ on 1080p much closer to standard 1440p.
In the end, race is about having best performance at same image quality.
(Or same performance while having better IQ.)

You need to read up on what feature lock is.

This is new technology, which may not be able to be back-ported to older cards.

Thats a personal opinion i guess. I like my games being sharp, textures pop even more in that case. Maybe im weird idk hehe :p
