Does the GP setting not override the reg entry regardless of it creating that in the first place? Perhaps it creates or changes something else that trumps that original reg entry

Are you sure it is not turned off even though the reg entry is still there and set to 1? Is there a way to test ?

 

I can't answer if it works as it does nothing on my system as I have to old CPU (3570k you need Broadwell/Skylake+ CPU).

For me I didn't have the power throttling reg key at all, so enabling it added the key and the PowerThrottlingOff DWORD value1.

GPE turn off power throttling notes it is a special case " The registry setting is not stored in a policy key and thus is considered a preference. Therefore, if the Group Policy Object that implements this setting is ever removed, this registry setting will remain."

 

Doesn't really make sense, it has to be stored in a policy key if it creates it in the first place surely

Well if the reg key is the only thing it does, then deleting the key will disable it, it was not there on my system either

 

right, you can delete the key or set it to 0 or set GPE to disabled, any one should turn it back off.


Edit: it is still stored in registry.pol file in "C:\Windows\System32\GroupPolicy\Machine"

So TLDR of this setting is this fixed the DPC Latency spikes for you guys?

 

Nope.

 

I think the best thing you can do is check first Task-manager, add power throttle column and see if you have any processes listed as enabled.

If they are all disabled then it's not going to do anything, but if you find some enabled "maybe" it will help.

 

Same here. This is ridiculous, I'm getting half second to full second stutters every 20 seconds just watching a 1080p video on YouTube! Twitch streams are doing the same thing. Does MS not even have humans use these builds before pushing them out?

The only one enabled for me, no matter what I've changed in the registry or GPE regarding power throttling, is "System Interrupts". Makes sense to me that having system interrupts power throttled could lead to stutters and halts. Man, they (or more likely a user) need to figure this out ASAP!

 

System Interrupts is normal to have, I have the same.

 

Guess I will hold off on this build till MS sorts out this Latency spike issue. will like to update both uncles pc to this before I leave though

Microsoft seems to have quietly released new 1903 ESD downloads that contain build 18362.175 instead of 18362.30.
the 1903/19H1 media creation tool is recently downloading the .175 ESDs (64bit/x64) (32bit/x86) [US English]

Does the latency spike issue affect everyone from what you can tell, or only specific systems?

Would like to install 1903 as it should contain Ryzen scheduler optimizations.

 

I had those spikes. Clean install (18362.175) + ryzen + nvidia.

Installing the most current microcode update fixed my latency issues with 1903. Intel tho.

 

I have not checked LatencyMon but I have no real usage issues with latency, no audio pops or stutters in You-tube, etc.To me if feels the same as older versions, I did notice very slightly better gameplay, seemed smoother.

On the Ryzen scheduler, there no improvements right now, I read you would need newer chipset drivers and who knows if that will only support Ryzen 3xxx series.

I don't have them anymore, because I went back to 1809.

 

I watched this vid, I don't have Ryzen so have no idea. I think this would effect more on TR platforms.
