Doom had good texture quality and the PBR shaders was also very good, but Doom Eternal surpasses it on both fronts. Don't know why you find this so controversial, it's common for developers to improve their technology for sequels and IdTech 7 specifically mentions texture quality and detail as one of the main upgrades from IdTech 6, along with increased geometry. Here's a visual comparison between Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal. To me it looks fairly obvious, with clear improvements in texture resolution and detail, plus geometry. Id/Bethesda has not released the system requirements for Doom Eternal, so I don't know where you're getting the RTX 2070 from
He was replying to people saying you couldn't get a top end card for 500 bucks, when the 2070 is available for a little under 500.
Oh! Well, I suppose it's more nuanced than that. For every grade of GPU, there are tiers. The GTX xx70 series has typically been an entry level high end card, but top end? Nah....
Top end, IMO, depends on what that person specifically wants from the card. If they want 1080p, 60fps... this tier of cards work, 1440p... this tier... 4K... this one. Take my card, a 1070 Ti, it's not top end. But I'm damn happy with it. It delivers everything I personally want and more. It may not be a "top tier" GPU, but for me... given it handles everything I want, it is.
The 2080 and 2080 Ti. If you want to be literal, then it's only the 2080 Ti, since it's the top nvidia gaming card. "Top", by definition, means there's nothing else above it.
Nightmare texture/shadows setting was hard to run. You guys have forgoten that without 8GB vram no one would advice to even try and that was Doom 2016. Now Eternal can take that even one step beyond.
Not sure if anyone has heard but Doom Eternal will implement ray tracing. https://www.game-debate.com/news/27...ray-tracing-with-nvidia-rtx-gpus-on-id-tech-7
After release, similar to how they did Vulkan with the previous title. They said making the game the best it can be is the main focus right now.
does anyone else want an option in the game to keep the disappearin helmet hud on at all times??? i always love the look ofg it and think it would be awesome to have it as an actual feature you can toggle on or off.
Saw a coupla vids where a guy said he had played the pc version of the demo at E3. And both said movement speed seemed slower..... than DOOM 2016. hmmmmmmm
Depends on how it's handled. If it is "slower" then DOOM 2016, it'll still be faster then a lot of shooters. And, speed does not make a game good. It looks like with Eternal they are trying to emphasis player movement more in other ways, with the ability to double dash while in the air, the meathook on the Super Shotty pulling you to enemies. Player mobility seems to be a big focus.
Speed is not the point actually. I am talking about FEEL. And I liked the FEEL of DOOM 2016s speed of movement. If it feels sluggish iuncomparison, it won`t FEEL right for me. Not to mention, jump pads. I am a fan of how they felt in Quake 3, and Unreal Tourney. The speed FELT awesome. I expect low grav to feel a tad slower. But it`s going to be disappointing if normal jump pad usage FEELS slow. I don`t expect anyone to get my drift on this issue. Well some might. I can see most won`t. But whatever. Proof as always is in the pudding. Hopefully it won`t suck.
