Yeah the gaming e looks ok on paper but the VRM will decide everything. What PWM are they using, and did they choose to go with true powerphases or are they just using doublers. From a quick look i want to say its 6 (12 + 4) with doublers but i've not found a decent picture and have no idea what PWM they're using. Not exactly great but eh, gonna have to wait till people in the know get their hands on them.

Here is what Asus says about it. "To get a Ryzen CPU overclocked to top speed, the X570-E relies on a Digi+ VRM with 12+4 power stages similar to the higher-end Crosshair models, while the X570-F follows closely behind with 12+2 power stages. In both cases, 8-mm copper heatpipes distribute thermal energy across the VRM heatsinks to improve dissipation."

I dont know enough about powerphases to know how this compares to last year's crosshair VII. I'm going to want to overclock but nothing extreme.

    Taken from https://edgeup.asus.com/2019/the-x570-motherboard-guide-ryzen-to-victory-with-pci-express-4-0/3/

Edit: looks slightly stronger than the Crosshair VII but with doublers on the memory?

This. mATX is the perfect size. Not too small, not too big. Real shame. I think so far only ASRock has an X570 mATX mobo.

I just posted a pic and the specs of the ASRock X570 mATX board in the ASRock announce thread.
    https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/asrock-announces-x570-motherboards.426849/#post-5675123

This is the link to all the specs of the Asus AMD boards released with X570 at least :
    https://edgeup.asus.com/2019/the-x570-motherboard-guide-ryzen-to-victory-with-pci-express-4-0/

There is a complete comparison table at the bottom of the first page.

Not one mATX X570 from Asus, neither from Gigabyte or MSI either.
Supermicro might do one, but not for gamers.
Looks like i'll be getting the ASRock mATX X570 one if its the only one...

The question is, can its VRM handle overclocking if Ryzen 3000 will overclock well?

8 core, probably, 12 maybe, nothing stellar.

I'll be going 8 core, and if it gets anywhere near hot, i'll cool it separately.
i dont expect it to have problems.
will wait for reviews though before jumping the gun :)

The Crosshair VIII Formula looks like it is 20 years old and has been used hard for 20 years. That doesn't look modern at all.

To be fair, it's probably a late prototype, and it's been manhandled by at least a thousand people at this point.

The fact that they are actually MAKING a Formula for AMD is a basically saying that AMD is now a real competitor again. Up to this point they only made mid-range and low-end enthusiast boards, now they have dedicated OCer and real enthusiast ones.

The purple lighting really washes out the photos.

Some nice boards. Liking the Stix-E as well.

Why do the boards have both the 1Gb intel nic and the 2.5/5Gb nic? Seems like you would just use the higher speed nic and the intel is unnecessary.

All the mainboard versions with the attached Fans on the chipsets are wasted. Not to mention the noise impact and long-term durability, it means also that they have bad heat-control.

On this generation motherboards ASUS is a delusion... I thought I would never said that, but the most interesting x570 MBs line is from.... Gigabyte :| ...And yes, I still thing that hig end x470 and x370 MBs could be a big deal thanks to the price drops.

Sad to see no mATX boards. I'm tired of buying ATX to never use the slots, its such a waste.
On the other hand, ITX is just too small, I want to have space for NVMe and Sound Card.
So, I'll be looking for mATX boards elsewhere.
