Nice to hear they have improved the fan over previous types of these monitors. Seemed pretty offputting in some situations and louder than I expected.

Glad to hear miniLED is coming into use, although in stepping stone capacity here.

I just bought the Acer XV273K 4K 144Hz monitor that misses out on the FALD back lighting array, a beautiful screen for what it is, makes my MSI 4k laptops screen look like a faded copy. But I'm really looking forward to the next gen of them, perhaps once DP and HDMI have more bandwidth so 144Hz can be reached without compromises.
Lots of cool new screen tech should be ready around then.

Thanks Asus. Just what the consumer wanted another small form factor 4K monitor. It's just dumb having this resolution on a tiny screen. I guess next year we can look forward to the 19" 8K monitors.

After I bought it, I now prefer the semi-Retina sharpness on the desktop with 150% scaling. Apps aren't totally broken like before.

    ???

these aren't your 2005 ips panels which have higher latency than your tv.

It's not latency it's the glow. Perhaps this will be better due to the higher FALD resolution but the previous variant has terrible IPS glow, made more noticeable by blooming in HDR content. It's the sole reason why I didn't buy the monitor as the fan thingy didnt really bother me. Still waiting for the ASUS Ultrawide MVA.. at this point though might just keep waiting for mini-LED variant.. considering they announced it two years ago and it's still not out yet.

if you have glow, your brightness and contrast are tuned wrong.

Glow is not equal with all IPS monitors. Some are worse than others, some only mildly annoying, some hardly noticeable (esp Samsung PLS panels) and of course some are just bad.

There needs to be a 43" 4K 120hz monitor with HDMI 2.1 and Displayport 1.4 that costs around 1500 bucks.

No amount of brightness/contrast tuning is going to change the fact that IPS panels have poor native contrast.

I got excited when I saw Mini-LED, and then irritated when I saw that it only meant 576 zones. The Sony Z9D has more zones than that and still has blooming despite having a VA panel with 4x the native contrast that this one will. That, plus this monitor will take up a larger FOV than a TV will.

The G-SYNC HDR monitors do not have any glow due to the FALD even in SDR mode. Backgrounds are pitch black like my OLED, except for the halos which are not noticeable 95% of the time. In HDR mode the halos are more visible, but not an issue in real content.
