It's also a hassle since you need to backup everything important, remember all programs you've installed and then redownload, reinstall and reconfigure everything (unless there is a better way?)

I try to do a reformat once a year (or if I do a major hardware change like change mobo/cpu) but that's about it.

 

I have upgraded on all win10 builds, this one didn't need too much AFAIK, It updated HD audio driver so any changes you made need to be redone in control panel, but other than a few services that got reset not to much changed. I use O&O Shutup10 which will tell you if anything changed, a few did but that was about it.
1903 seems good the start menu and linked folders open better as before I had a direct shortcut to administrator tool and that would get delayed a few seconds.

I have issues . I get Vodafone FTTH with 600/600, download speed is OK (630), but Upload Speed is Only 130, irregular speed :S, Im sure the problem is this Windows versión.

P.D - I have the lastest Realtek network versión.

 

Your motherboard has Intel I219V LAN why even use something else?

For me speeds go above 130 UP on old Intel I217-V


Also check if you have delivery optimizations tuned OFF in Windows Update settings.

Fixed it by opening registry editor with admin rights.

 

Yep, delivery optimizations is turned off. And my motherboard IS Asus z370 e-gaming with l219V with lastest driver.


I investigued and is a browser problem with Speedtest WEB page, With Speedtest APP from Microsoft Store is running OK, I dont Understand.

P.D - Microsoft Egde and Mozilla Firefox, both have this Issues with my ISP and Speedtest WEB....

I try to upgrade using the download link and I get a message about unable to upgrade due to driver or service not compatible. I never had this with previous updates but the confusing thing - it doesn't tell you what the service / driver is at fault ???

I think I am going to leave it as my PC is working great at the moment and hopefully it will show up under windows update after some driver updates.

Edit - Installed fine after using Norton's fix. So far so good, I re-install gfx driver and unlike previous builds most of my settings were retained like even quick boot remained disabled.

Desktop usage seems more snappier and time spy fps appeared to be more consistent or it could be me imagination

I'm just happy it hasn't recked my install lol.

 

Hello everyone,I was curios how is the new 1903 vs an older build 1709 december 2017 update.Why 1709?Because is the last "good" win10 who is not patched and affected by the drama of Melt&Spectre.

I tested in vmware 14.1 on old machine i5 7400,8gb,hdd wd 1tb with Performance Test 8.With other occasion I will test with aida64 or other programs.

The results are as I expected,the old build is better on memory and disk transffer.

What happens when you disabled meltdown and Spectre?
You can use app InSpectre to enable/disable it easy.

I can say 1903 seems good from a performance view in games I play, seems very smooth, not that I had issues with 1809.

 

So far seeing smoother performance, no frozen start menu, and overall seems to load faster. That said logon is slower, and the setting to auto start prior running apps doesn't seem to work. Also the info for windows spotlight, shows on the lock screen but doesn't show on the first sign in screen.

 

I just notice that they ****** around - again - with the EVR implementation in borderless mode so that it does not sync anymore, I had to switch to full D3D fullscreen in all the players that used EVR in borderless mode and force v-sync in the graphics drivers.... They will never learn...

 

Did an update over my well conditioned and optimized 1809 installation using the ISO, everything went smooth.
I had to reinstall network & GPU drivers all over again and optimize these devices once again but ohh well...!
I like the new light theme it has a nice premium feel to it and with the proper wallpaper is a must!
Performance wise the only thing i saw so far is the improved smoothness in games and the faster responsiveness (just a bit faster than 1809) using a traditional Sata3 SSD.
No issues with the update so far!
