My 2070 Strix came with Micron memory. Beautiful card, super sweet product all around. EXCEPT FOR: it failed during the first week LOL

I suspect that OC-ing memory on 2070 is pointless - because it already has as much bandwidth as RTX 2080, yet it has -25% of rest of the hardware.

Well I finally broke down and bit the bullet..... I got that card. I had a friend that was gonna sell me one and I waited too long and his other half made him send it back.... Soooo, I looked around and found one on Amazon. It was a used one and said in very good condition. I was nervous(it was in my cart for 2 days b4 I hit the place order button lolz). So I finally got it yesterday and it was in the original box(minus the sleeve), the seal on the bag was broke but the protective film was still on the top and bottom of the card. Looked very clean. Popped it in and it works!!!! This thing is a beast. It's super quiet and runs super cool! I'll post a couple of my 3dmark Timespy results below.

    This was my 1070

This is the 2070 out of the box

This is the 2070 with a pretty good oc
    https://www.3dmark.com/spy/6606115

I have yet to see it break 61c after running anything(my 1070 was loud and hot(80c+ when gaming and benching). I paid $450(for the 2070) for it and I even get a game with it(thought I wouldn't cause it's used). I keep raising the gpu clock and it keeps working and staying cool(Gonna stop were I'm at for a lil and see how it goes It's at +150 on the core and +1100 on the mem. Soo, so far so good. I be super happy... It has Samsung memory too. :)

did a stress test using prime95 and furmark at 4k max settings.....

nothing went above 61c for the time I ran, which was a half hour. not much, just wanted to see if my psu fan still works. it only runs if it gets warm, which it hardly ever gets warm...

I like my PNY RTX 2070 OC. It serves me well in a Dell T3600 workstation and will add another year or so to this setup.

It's coupled to a LG 4K monitor and mostly used for Photography related tasks and a few games.

Quick question ... I see folks talking about TU106-400-A1 and TU106-400A-A1
I see TU106 and Rev A1 in GPU-Z but I'm not sure where you see 400 or 400A?

I have an MSI Ventus - also noticed it has Samsung Memory. Is this good or bad?
Haven't had the need to overclock up till now... what is the easiest way to go about it? Afterburner?

btw... Furmark temps get up a little over 80 (83ish if i remember right) ran it for a good 20minutes. Does this seem ok?

Runs Witcher 3 just fine on Ultra settings.. over 100fps .. .even Hairworks.. but this is at 1980x1200... Monitor upgrade coming!

I think you can only see which chip it is by removing cooler and checking what's marked on the die. Not sure though.

Alternatively check some reviews for the card, likely you'll find one where this is mentioned.

    Samsung memory is very good.

AB is the easiest way to overclock. Just use OC Scanner for an easy overclock.

80+ temps are somewhat high I think, even in Furmark. I have MSI Armor and it never exceeds 70 C, gaming temps are between 60 ... 68 usually.
The card will temp throttle past 83 C so maybe replace thermal paste on the die, you can check the chip while at it.

Yeah Witcher 3 runs very well with this card :)

80+ temps is quite normal with something like furmark with the majority of cards. I would not take apart the card to replace the paste for something like this, which I doubt will make much of a difference and would likely void the warranty. Tbh, nobody should be using furmark any more, its a useless program that does not represent real world gaming scenarios in any way.

Supposedly Samsung memory OC better than Micron and are usually found in later video cards.

Don't use Furmark, play games or benchmarks to test stability. That just increases temps in an unlikely manner.

Easiest way to overclock is to not touch it. GPU Boost will automatically clock it higher than normal.

Easy way to overclock is using OC scanner (ctrl + f in afterburner), scan, apply, and test yourself.

Manual way is to max power/temp limit and increase core clock, bench/test, up clock, bench test etc.. if desire do the same for ram separately then combine. There are a ton of guides/tutorials/videos this day in age.

    Thanks for the replies folks!

My device ID is 10DE-1F02 - so its the 400 not the 400A I take it.

Regarding a new monitor - not a lot of cash.. trying to keep it under 300 350 max.
Strongly considering a Widescreen 34" 2560x1080. Saw several LG monitors here https://www.displayninja.com/freesync-monitor-list/
that are listed as GSync compatible. LG 34WK650 LG 34UM69G Any thoughts on these? Best Buy has the LG WK500 for 270 - looks a lot like the 650 but I can't find it listed anywhere

I know most would want 1440p but 3440x1440 seems like a lot of pixels to push around and I'm just a casual gamer. Would rather have higher fps.
Not into first person shooters.. mainly single player RPG's - Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Witcher.. etc. 75-100Hz would prob be fine.

Because some just want to watch the world burn by sowing chaos and confusion amongst the masses with all these different names and types: Game Ready, Creator Ready, Studio, Standard, DCH, GTX, RTX, GT, MX, Ti, Super, ODE, QNF, and so on.

Because they couldn't call it 2080 Ti since that already exists, so rather make a new unified lineup with all cards being called "Super", instead of some being Ti and some "Super" or something else entirely.

I got my evga ultra rtx 2070 for $479 at best buy last week on sale. every other place was selling the same model for $600.. finally put my gtx 1070 to sleep.. why is the rtx 2080 ti over $1200? i mean it cant be 3 times better then my new Rtx 2070 at nearly 3 times the price.

Because the company feels the market will pay for the card at that price.

I think it's where you look as they do have 2080 Ti's for less. Evga RTX 2080 Ti's for $999 and you get 3 promo games.

I would pay whatever it took to avoid using a blower cooler.
Like, if I ask myself to make this choice
"2080 Ti but you HAVE to use a loud hot blower style cooler OR a 2080 Super but you get a nice big heatsink with a couple fans"
I would probably get the 2080 Super. Call me crazy, but I've saved money before when I got the MSI GTX 1080 Aero and I hated myself for doing it.
