This is not included in the appx in a license document, so their restrictions Break at the microsoft store page, as at this point, it is no longer provided by the maxon website, and the restrictions here of are not legally binding at any point.

The law is not vague, "This site" will be the maxon domain only, and the software is no longer provided on the domain so Restrictions are not applicable.

Of course now they are free to correct this mistake.

The Play store is definitely not safe. It's safer than it was last year but there's no guarantee what you'll get from there.

Nothing is ever free. They sell all your private data to third parties the second you click "ok". Heck, many apps on the microsoft store are given permission for all system resources which allows use pretty much anything they want. Best part is, many of such apps don't even give you the ability in Windows privacy setttings to prevent the app from accessing what it wants.

    This is what Microsoft says:

Here's more info on what permissions allow an app to do:

You're not getting it from the MS store in our example in this thread. Do you know why this thread exists? Please pay attention the topic of the thread prior to posting. You'll look less silly.

You quoted the maxon site, the package was not obtained from the maxon site.

Windows Store... guess most of us are never downloading their stuff again. The UWP structure may allow for quick launching and closing of apps made properly for it, but it's an absolute nightmare in every other way. Including making modifications impossible. No thanks.

Well, it is funny. I had tab with R20 release thread open for later download and testing since day it was posted.
Looks like that's not case anymore. UWP is not for me and D* move from Maxon even less.

"Hey Grandpa, who were the PC enthusiasts?"
..."Oh, boy. Those were last people who did not use UWP. And then they quietly migrated away from windows."

When is M$ going to get sued for being a monopoly again, they got sued for including Dial Up Internet with a PC, but nothing about buying out all software and utilities and forcing people to use that dont work.

Good news is, the more software microsoft buys, helps me to know what not do buy...

So you don't use Windows or any Windows based programs or you're just looking for attention. My guess is, the latter.

"A small note first, for whatever reason Maxon deemed it necessary to make this a Windows Store build, thus UWP. Thanks to the help of user mejillonvolador we have been able to create a downloadable package you can use (portable) here at the website."

There are facts then there is your avoidance of them. Silly.

All this complaining over free software that most people will probably never use (or use only once). Way to make a mountain out of a molehill.

Most Android phones use the Play Store for all their apps and iPhones exclusively use the App Store, and yet I don't hear anybody complaining about a monopoly there. Of course Android allows you to install apps outside the store, but this isn't seen as a good thing - if anything, Android has been criticized for lack oversight and malware, both in the store and out.

I get that we PC users are used to installing things without a store (except for games, in which case we prefer a monopoly under Steam), but I see no problem installing from the Windows Store - I've installed a couple of apps from it before and encountered no issues.
