Definitely an odd decision, but not a deal breaker I'd personally say.

Pfft, stop being so crybabies and barbaric some of you people for real.

Many of you here and anywhere else, you use, google play store and apple app store. Why always MS store, or others are the devil ones? You are tiring me.

I don't know...seems like less of a hassle for installing. Just click one button in the Store and it's installed. On the other hand not a big fan of exclusivity for no reason. However I'm sure they've, like all the rest, defined distribution rights which they can change without notice. And of course it is the responsibility of the host, in this case GURU3D, to ensure what they are sharing is done with permission, just as it has always been. There's nothing personal about it, just business for the Benjamins.

It's like when i have issue with net bandwith few week ago (the main net dispatcher of the city were flooded...).

I phone to the provider... they ask me to go and download on M$ Store "speedtest"...
I have explained them that i am on Linux, and that "speedtest" can be used as a service with any net browser. They told me then that only result from the app from M$ store were reliable... :( (since when? )
I know, i know... i could have told them my result making them think it was from the app, or use my other computer... but i don't like to be forced to use something that i don't need if here is another more simple way.

So they send me a "Specialist" the day after (lol)... he doesn't know what is a "switch" or a "PC using linux" and ask me to start M$ store (... just lol ...).
At the end he go to search a laptop (1h wasted) run the "speedtest" from M$ Store... And found the exact result that i had the day before he came.

Pushing to use M$ store is push companies to be un-professional (like this "specialist" ou like Capcom: Ms Store allow Resident Evil biohazard to install the game on any drive, but the DLC only in C:\ in the same path of the game (yes they have done it) and it was never fixed, hopefully there is a "not so legal way" to correct this (without the store).

M$ Store is a good idea but if it's like google store, a way to chain customer... then no thank you.

They dont rly care, if it was a paid software, ok, they would lose money, but boycot something free is just a loss for us. ;)

    I honest say is stupidity.

You CAN live without Google Store (and google in general) on Android, without Apple Store on Apple's Devices and so without M$ Store on Windows, and still get update and what you need... there is plenty of side path, and it's easy (ok it's a bit more hard for Apple but still possible.).

They never forced you to use their Store (also it is illegal to "force" in most country) they just make you feel that without it you can't do anything... and some customer give up and become sheep.

About the question "Why..." then follow your own information that those company own, now that they have to show you if you ask by the law in some country...

I'm going to make sure to delete the software from my drive and not care about any benchmarks made with it too.

Is there some reason why they would do this? Some kind of revenue generated from people going to the MS store? I'm clueless on how people would make money from that maybe ads?

You can either use powershell to do each one manually, or find a list online that's pre-set and then copy-pasta it to powershell. CCleaner also lets you uninstall the Windows apps in its tools section.

Making software for Windows (or Xbox) or receiving money from MS should be okay, but no company should ever easily partner with Microsoft. Just look at Nokia: Once the biggest mobile phone manufacturer, then still one of the largest, but after they became Microsoft's partner, it only took a few years to ruin Nokia's whole grand mobile phone division entirely and oust them from the market. Only an extremely high risk gambler should ever become an MS partner.

I kind of figured they might do that so I hurried and grabbed mine before hand because I hate the MS store.

Windows Store is garbage. Countless reasons, all well known.

Why does Maxon even care? The only people that really use benchmarks are enthusiasts. Why go all legal action with an enthusiast site for having the audacity to host their free benchmark?

I'm gunna mirror it everywhere and then send them the :refuck: emoji.

    1. It's free software
    2. There is no legal disclaimer enforcing distribution requirements bound to the package.

Maxon is in the wrong lol.

I dont get it, Guru3d has distributed versions of cine-bench for more than a decade.
Just goes to show that they don't value the longstanding relationship with community over whatever deal they have with Microshaft to push the craptacular winblows store.
