Wrath: Aeon of Ruin - New FPS from 3D Realms

I'm so excited this game is now officially, publicly announced.

Also seems big box available as well, like for Ion Maiden.

 

Not bad. I enjoy this renaissance of old-school FPSs. I hope this one is as good as DUSK, although we don't need all of them to "look" like it's 1998 XD

 

I'm sick of the GaaS and multiplayer crap we see today so it's a welcome release but yeah, did it have to look like 1998!?

 

Yeah I wouldn't mind getting an old-school shooter that looks brand spanking new either but aesthetic is part of the appeal.

Though we do have Doom Eternal coming (and already have 2016 Doom) so something in that vein for sure.

 

Bethesda is rotten, FO76 made that point and how I'd rather see stuff from others than Doom 2016 with more gore and microtransactions.

 

Bethesda is what it is but Doom's good as ever.

Okay, if I HAD to choose I'd probably take Brutal Doom over Doom 2016 but thankfully I don't have to

 

To be perfectly fair, I hope that Id delivers with Doom Eternal. That will be the only reason for me to use their buggy launcher (albeit I have little interest in multiplayer). Doom 2016 was a great single-player experience (though reliant on arena survival and teleporting enemies too much), and I want Eternal to be that but better. But, yes, if Bethesda tries some funny stuff, count me out.

 

The developers under ZeniMax (id, Arkane, MachineGames) have all said one of the things they love about their working environment is that ZeniMax mostly leaves them alone to do what they want to do.
Bethesda Game Studio only has control under titles they develop.

DOOM Eternal, RAGE 2... those are under Bethesda Publishing which is a separate entity. Different people. And they have no part in the development of the game, that's down to the likes of id or Avalanche and such.


BUT... Wrath.
There will be a demo later this summer, and the game will be playable at PAX and other conventions.

 

id can make a GOTY with Doom Eternal but they're not an independent company merely using Beth as a publisher ... I don't trust those guys at all. They'll make a mess with monetization. Unfortunate for id that's how it is. I won't use that pos launcher though, cba to pay for a lesser experience.

I guess I don't have much to stand on when it comes to graphics. I'll be playing KOTOR 2 after I'm done with my break from games And I have played Doom 1 & 2 thanks to Brutal Doom countless times. I hope this is great too.

 

Well, KOTOR 2 has the best and most original SW story of all of the games, so it's no like you'll be playing $hit...

Btw on a somewhat related matter, anyone of you guys try the Quake 1.5 mod? I thought it looked brilliant but haven't gotten around to trying it myself.

Along with hands on previews from various sites, and in a few short weeks, the game will be playable at PAX. So, more hands on impressions.

 

I'm kinda mesmerized by those gifs lol. To think that's 20 year old tech behind the animations and lighting, looks pretty good tbh.

 

Well, it's 20 year old tech that has been worked on for quite some time by various enthusiasts

 

And it won't be a 60GB download
