AMD has to pull rabbit out of hat with Navi.

With GTX1660, Novidia took large chunk of consumers who were interested in entry-mid level performance GPU.
AMD only left with outdated RX570/580 for entry level dGPU performance for gaming.
RX590 was almost dead on arrival and GTX1660 put it down for good.

Unless there shortage on GTX1660Ti that will spike prices on it, I don't see a reason to go for AMD GPU anymore.
Vega56 is just a meme material at this point.

Since I was quick to applaud the move/news in the second comment, yeah, it was a semi-false alarm everybody. More half accurate tbh than false.

It was just an in and out, possibly never in, promotion from MSI for its RX VEGA 56 AIR BOOST OC card.

Funny thing is in the EU region, OCUK has a pre-order status on it for £248.99 and if someone looks around a bit(reddit thread), other shops may or may not have it for ~€250 as well.

Honestly the made up names people are making in this forum are really some of the most childish things i have seen on these forums.

How about we be adults and stop acting like 12 year olds who think they are powerful just because they think they made a clever "nickname" for something they don't like.

Sounds like a certain "person in charge" on the world stage.

    Whats next?

    AMDon't?

    UnIntel?

    Sheesh

AMD Clarifies: Vega 56 Price Will Not Go Down

AMD reached-out to media to clarify its short-lived Vega 56 promotion advertised to media prior to the 1660 Ti review embargo lift, which ran-out nearly instantly upon starting. The company wrote the following:

“Radeon RX Vega 56 has been heavily promoted since the holidays and into the new year as partners have been eager to make RX Vega 56 and it's [sic] forward looking 8GB of HBM2 available for more gamers. To clarify, the current Radeon RX Vega 56 promotion is not a price drop. Additionally, the RX Vega 56 graphics card will continue to be offered as part of AMD’s Raise the Game: Fully Loaded bundle with three of this year’s blockbuster titles.”

Ended up picking one up for my wifes computer. $259 is quite the deal for that performance, even if the cooler sucks. I may look at getting a different cooler, we'll see.

    VRAM...VRAM...VRAM... hahaha :D

Here's a video @OnnA posted, and it's pretty interesting viewing.

Although, I should add, I'm not entirely sure it is simply because of VRAM alone.

Funny, I've read numerous different reviews of 2060 cards at 1440 max settings, same games, and no one reporting similar frame time inconsistencies. Maybe something was wrong with his setup or card; since the allocation even on Vega 56 was only slightly above 6GB.

    Looks pretty clear to me.

    Who knows.
