people you have to learn how use google and see what is going on with the games.Dice is trying to stop one hack that people are using to make bf5 flat so players can see other playes. dice tryed to stop the hack by disables the profile editor. that means you won't be able to change anything in the bf5 profiles.if you do the game will reset the profile back to default. the only what to stop the game from doing it is to make the 2 files read only.

No old drivers will fix this .the was done in the last bf5 update.

is indeed true that sometimes metro exodus and apex crashes, but after restart everything goes to normal.

in my case crashed 5 times in a row, restarted PC, and then everything went fine withouth issue with 3 hours of gameplay of metro dx12,

You've compared both? I'd be interested in trying them. How did you get the modified inf?

    edit:are quadro drivers rtx compatable?

SLI now works for Apex, but the microstutter is bad enough to make me stick to a single card. Pretty typical of SLI these days.

You could instead just use the latest NVidia drivers and choose "Prefer Maximum Performance" in the NVidia Control Panel for each of the games you play - that way you get the most up to date drivers with the latest fixes, whilst also ensuring that the GPU is operating at maximum boost at all times when gaming.

What's the benefit of "Adaptive" vs "Optimal" when used as a Global Setting? I already choose "Prefer Maximum Performance" for individual game profiles but use "Optimal" for a Global Setting.

I've tried that but then the driver doesn't idle in 2D mode, it stays in 3D mode with a constant 1540MHz in Windows and of course higher idle temps.

I think I'll try the latest driver and use Adaptive mode instead of Optimal as already suggested. The downside is that the driver still has Apex crashes whereas 417.75 doesn't.

Optimal Power means when there is no draw on the screen, the GPU clock speeds is set 0 MHz to save power and then ramps up once it needs to. Sounds great on paper, works like crap. This is the number one reason why anyone might experience crappy performance from their nVIDIA GPU. What's worse, is that's the default setting in the nVIDIA Control Panel after you install a new driver often leading people to blame the driver for bad performance when it's just the fault of nVIDIA's clowns.

Set the power management to Adaptive which puts the GPU at lower clock speeds when no GPU intensive apps are in use and it would ramp the clocks up when needed. That actually works. It's the best balance between getting lower heat from the GPU and good performance in games.

When benchmarking, for the optimal results, it's best to set the power management to High Performance.

Mind you, after you change the power management to whatever you set it to, a reboot is mandatory for the new clocks to take effect.

    Classical nVIDIA Swiss Cheese

I wouldn't set it to High Performance though as I don't need my GPU clock speeds to be at 100% while I'm browsing the web or watching YouTube and make my laptop overheat unncessarily, Adaptive is your best choice.

Thanks and here's a link for the non DCH version:
    http://jp.download.nvidia.com/Windo...p-notebook-win10-64bit-international-whql.exe
Going to try them. Thanks for the inf.

Update: inf only works with the original posted DCH version. Can't seem to get nvcp even to come up on this so reverting back.
Update 2: found the nvidia control panel here on the forum.

A few drivers back someone compared adaptive and optimal; it seemed like adaptive was buggy and lead to unstable clocks or so. (However, same can be said about optimal when looking through this thread)

Is there any benefit in desktop use (windows programs, internet browsing) when using Adaptive rather than Optimal? I already have all my games set for "Prefer Maximum Performance" on a per game basis, so that's already sorted.

I personally can't tell ANY difference between Optimal and Adaptive options in daily usage. Most games run fine with Optimal and when there are games which have issues maintaining stable framerates with it Adaptive doesn't really help either and Max Perf is the only way to solve these.

Ah, you don't set the Global Settings to Prefer Maximum Performance, instead you have Global Settings on Adaptive or Optimal, but then on the Program Settings tab you set Prefer High Performance for each of your games - that way it downclocks on the desktop, but remains at max frequency during gaming.

Oh, that's a lot of work but I guess it might be worth it. I'll try it out and report back.
