Which is a snails pace compared to back in the old days.

I actually think the GPU market will continue to stagnate with only incremental performance increases until either AMD or NVIDIA bring out something great out of nowhere. Though I do hope it's AMD that does this and then NVIDIA competes its way back into the game. Time will tell.

Sure, it's been slow recently but even then in 2 years we'll most likely have a $500 gpu that will match the 2080ti.

And I'm expecting something from AMD to push Nvidia a little bit. Fingers crossed anyway, been waiting for this for ages.

DX12 CRASHES, DX11 runs great, if crossfire would work well ,my 290x cfx is Itching for a go at it.

CF isn't working, I have a pair of RX VEGA64 in CF, when I play ME, only the primary card is working (according to MSI AB and GPUZ anyway. 2nd card is sitting pretty and idle. Regardless, I have no problem near maxing out setting (no proprietary nVidia stuff turned on) @3840x1080, framerate rarely drops below 40fps with framerate between 60fps to 100fps most of the time.

The Benchmark is harsh, in game runs great, DX11.

So true! Benchmark runs are terrible, that's why I was pleasantly surprised that a single VEGA64 can do the game so well at 3840x1080. Finished the game on my i7 4770K + Radeon VII rig, but got a bad ending, guess I was too much in my Rambo mode.:p Now playing it again on my dual VEGA64 rig, gonna try to avoid unnecessarily killing some hostile enemies and see where I land.

This is natural that performance percentage would decrease. In the very early years, 10x per year then as processes matured, we're now down to incremental advances. Here's a technical limit many do not consider: the speed of electrons and data in a system. Electromagnetic energy in a vacuum travels ~11.8" per ns. With processor speeds approaching 5+ghz, maintaining clock coherency across an entire die is becoming more problematic. So, yeap, we do need something else.

The other Metro games where similar. Generally in game perf was much more stable. I remember the originals I was running SLI TITANS with a GTX 580 fro PhysX...ha ha.. I'd get FPS from 14 to over 200 in the bench at 1080P.

But, CF does work on both previous Metro Redux games. Even SSAA enabled on the benchmark runs (@3840x1080) with the previous games, I can still average about 80fps, a little mild stutters here and there, but gameplay in the actual game itself runs like a dream. I hope 4A includes CF/SLi support in their future patches....

When Metro 2033 first debut ,my build 470GTX SLI , was awesome at 1080p at the time , then of course , i upgraded to a 290x cfx and now 1080TI, i still have my 470 gtx sli and 290x cfx.

Obviously it becomes more difficult, but it leaves a bit of a sour taste in my mouth if they expect us to pay € 1400 for a small incremental performance increase.

There might be interesting stuff on the horizon with AI though. For instance if someone comes up with a frame interpolation technique to output high framerates without a significant latency increase, it could prove interesting, probably even more so for the Virtual Reality market.

Turns out the official benchmark does accurately represent game performance as a whole, as you'll get frame drops on a regular basis hindering enjoyment if your benchmark FPS is too low.

Makes you wonder how some reviewers reached the conclusion it didn't?

Benchmark does a good job getting in game the same results in Taiga and some places at Caspian.

Well said. I also think benchmark should not be ignored. It represent the choke point therefore low performance.

    GOTY !
I think the benchmark should be ignored, at 4K ultra ,physX and hair on , never went below 37 fps thru the whole game, even when streaming or recording with ultra settings , DX11 ran awesome , i had the best possible experience , i never pay full price for a game , Metro Exodus was more than worth it for me.
