Windows: How to get latest CPU microcode without modding the BIOS

Some crushes cant be crushed no matter how long its been or old you are...

 

I might of seen my first instance of these patches and microcodes causing slowdown cause there all enable and patch up to what ever is current microcodes MS is pushing threw WU, for the first time I since play Skyrim SE with 4k character textures, I seen the game get really stutter and slowdown when it is normal 60 stable at 1080p, seeing as I dont run with AB running i dont know if it the cpu or gpu, closing the game and restarted it fixed it. ( my first thought was WU was trying to do one of it checks and or forced downloads) maybe it was a fluke.

I did notice that the 411.63 nvidia drivers actual fixed the flickering that was happen on skyrim main menu which as always been there even in Skyrim when it was HDMI input, funny how i never noticed that was fixed till now those drivers been on my system for months

I suspect those mitigations would affect the same executed code in the same exact manner, so you would not shrug them off by restarting the code.

 

then it was most likely a fluke thing i guess either way i keep an eye out on it, To date Skyrim and now Skyrim SE is most played game I owned I think Original and SE combined i have over 10k hours in to and i only managed to completed the main story once, forget about the extras, all thanks to the fact i mess around with mods and have restarted the game well over 50 times.

And if I gona noticed something in game do those "patches" its this game only other game I seen wierd issue like stutter out now where is Deux EX MD and that is do to the damn denuvo drm they still refuse to take out of the game along with why it loading time are so horrid even on SSD

 

I found out Intel just released newer versions.

I'm my case for Haswell it got upgraded from 0×25 to 0×27. I have a bios modded with it and I have to say I'm really impressed with it, the modded bios part.

Found it at winraid forums, some guy has the same mobo as me and he modded all possible drivers to the latest too.
System boots faster, I can enter bios faster, reboots faster too.. and it actually feels smoother too, e.g. destiny 2 forsaken.

My oc is back to normal, 4.7g was feeling a bit unstable lately, also can use a bit lower cache voltage setting from few yrs ago, but guess total bios refresh might have fixed that.


That said newer firmware didn't affect my performance, with retopoline enabled and this latest update I got around the same cinebench15 compared to older windows, cpu physics scores were ok too, and ram bandwidth also.

 

That does sound rather promising, at least if one bothers to mod the bios.
At this point I'd rather get rid of that Intel CPU than fix anything which I honestly have lost oversight about, probably bricking my mainboard. Don't want to risk that another 4-6 months before I can upgrade to something not just as faulty as I already have....

This one seems to have updates on older CPU like IB for example.

 

Applying this new MC update also fixed the wacky latency spikes I was having. System is now much more consistent, lower overall latency average, and far less severe spikes, and fewer incidents of spikes. On 1903.

Intel has github that posts the latest linux microcode blob available, looks like they created it back in january.

Thats true, though I mainly pointed it out since it might be useful for tracking releases ,details on what microcodes have been updated, and tracking potential issues with microcodes

 

Just wanted to share that this method still works today, I have been using it since Skylake Intel 6th Gen [6700HQ] and it does provide a good safe method to update your microcode. I just did it on my Intel 13650HX CPU on Windows 11. It was using an old microcode taken from the BIOS... here's some screenshots.

Just wanted to share my experience since no one confirmed if it will work on modern CPUs or not so... I believe the same thing applies for Intel 14th gen and will work without any issues.

 

is the initial post link update date?, i was bored and check my uncles pc to see if he had lates microcode and according to this it does have latest microcode, though my understanding is if cam threw WU it applied upon boot up into windows?

 

Not for older CPU's as Intel doesn't provide any updates.
