7nm with the same Vega design as the 14nm Vega with more power pushed into it. It's the same story as the G80 to the G92, it's the same core but on a die shrink for more transistors and higher clocks.
Letting it run 10 degrees hotter should help with the noise, manual tweaking should be fairly simple in wattman, to bad it is needed.
Hehe, I just thought the same thing a minute ago and was going to modify my post. It's still Vega ...
Average price 850 euro to 950 depending on AIB. Then depending on seller it can touch the 1000 mark. If I could afford it I would buy rtx 2080, I can find it cheaper. AMD should abandon the game with those cards at that price and performance. Or just give us Navi sooner. GCN ship sunk a long time ago.
Did you tried AORUS ENGINE for Overclocking? Release Note: Support More Products. https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-RVEGA20-16GD-B#support-dl-utility
Decent 4k performance and very good productivity/prosumer performance. I'll be very curious to see how the market looks in a couple of months with possibly more mature drivers, custom boards and hopefully a price drop or two
It depends where you live though. Here the Radeon VII is listed on Newegg for 929 CAD (all "sold out" - did not receive any probably - it remains to be seen if it's going to be the price when they will be in stock probably around 2027). The cheapest RTX 2080 on Amazon.ca is 949$ CAD. Only Gigabyte and Zotac sell the RTX 2080 for under 1k CAD all the other brands are over 1k CAD on Amazon. The cheapest 2080 on Newegg.ca is 969$ CAD. Again Zotac and Gigabyte sell under 1k and one model by MSI (on sale for 989 but usually 999). Everything else is 1k and over. In Canada if you want to buy a card it's 500$ CAD minimum (2060) unless you accept 1060 performance level. I mean the used 1080Ti sell for between 750 and 800$ on eBay.ca ... The GPU market is pretty much dead in Canada unless you make a lot of money or spend all of it on gaming. That's saddening. Will definitely vote with my wallet (maybe eventually buy a PS5) and avoid any upgrade until nVidia and AMD both wake-up.
Not bad. At least they have something in the higher end bracket. I'd still go with the 2080 at the same price point though. I think Navi and the new Ryzen procs are looking pretty promising. Itching to upgrade my rig and will be looking hard at next gen Ryzen. Hope they deliver!
yeah not likely that I'll be paying this $1,298.99NZD for one of the Radeon VII's prices here are completely eff'd up considering the Vega56 from the same manufacturer costs $1,911.24 (bugger that)
I know we're talking about high-end products, but I sure love the GTX1060 and its performance whilst being in the lowest ranks of power consumption. An Nvidia 1x60 at 7nm feel it will be a blast. Performance of a beast for as little power consumption as possible. Same levels as 1060 but with performance of 1080 and maybe 1080Ti.
@ Hilbert Hagedoorn Ah thank you good sir.... As always much appreciated and informative. By chance (as I just got mine) is there any way we could get resolutions like 3440x1440 and or with DSR (Nvidia's) resolution scaler? Not sure what AMD calls theirs. I have been gaming the heck off of things on my x4 TITANs "OG" at native res and at 6880x2880 and get INSANE frame rates when support is there. I'll report with pics if there's a particular place I could send them as opposed to slamming this page with shtuff…..
I ordered it from AMD directly, very good customer experience although....with the ridiculous amount we pay for taxes (Qc) it was actually about 30$ more expensive than a cheap 2080 and express shipping. Like I said, im really hoping they deliver with new drivers by the time I get it or soon after otherwise there will be a used one for sale
Nice review and great card for content creators. For gamers, not so much. Sure, it's slower than 2080 but the biggest problems are those awful fans. I can't believe something like that has left AMDs labs. I'm sure they heard what HH did during his testing.
17.5%-25% faster than Vega 64 and 25%-32.5% faster than Vega 56, for 75% more money from Vega 64 and 125% more expensive than Vega 56 respectively. Bad performance buck ratio.
They learned from the best! (nvidia...cough) Yes, I am disappointed...I was expecting more. If Navi does not delivers then the man in the leather jacket will get my money.
Seeing how you are sporting a GTX 260 currently, pretty much anything mainstream or better and even remotely modern would be a huge upgrade for you. Nothing has caught your interest for a decade? I'm not sure Navi will do anything for you either.
Well, I already own a Vega 56 flashed with a 64 Bios, Powercolor Red Devil RX580 8GB and an XFX RX570 RS 8GB so I am set for now. Otherwise, in due time, I would upgrade to this.
