you could run those fancy 50gb "UHD" texture packs that some games offer as DLC, but then with such a relatively huge buffer bandwidth probably becomes a choking point for such a card

honestly if it doesnt add like 50% more in pricing I always take the bigger memory so thats one less setting to worry about, just use ultra or whatever is the highest

590 with 16gb could be interesting. Maybe new games are just starting to use unexpectedly more vram like RE2.

Can the 570 even use 8GB of Vram before it runs out of graphics horsepower? Let alone 16GB of Vram. The 570 came in a 4GB variant was well as an 8GB. Now a 570 with 16GB of Vram is pretty silly. Use the 16GB with a 580 and a 590 at least. Those two cards might be able to use 16GB of Vram.

It's totally a card designed for mining. Sure you can game with it, but it's a mining card.
Certain algorithms require lots of ram.

Very true about that. I saw a possible picture of a card from PC gamer and it had no video ports on it. https://www.pcgamer.com/sapphire-says-gpu-mining-is-making-a-comeback-outs-a-16gb-radeon-rx-570/
Even so there might be calculations where the card would choke on because it runs out of power before Vram. Just like in gaming where you run a game with all eye candy enabled and graphics turned to very high/Ultra and the card chokes on it because it ran out of power before VRAM because the card is too weak to support that much VRAM. Yeah you can gaming on mining cards but it takes a lot of effort to get them to work. You have to run a modified driver in order to do it. Plus you have use the onboard video ports for the mining card. It would be like a Desktop PC running in a laptop dual graphics card configuration the iGPU from the CPU and the dedicated GPU from AMD or Nvidia.

I call this future proofing. Memory is cheap. Why not?

Wow, this is sooo future proof, it takes after the Radeon VII and what AMD say about it!

Even if the card has no video port it does not mean you cant game on it.

Same as laptops. You can use low and high performance gpu for different applications inside the windows.

It is easy to test and really is seamless people that just sit to play a game will not even know thr signal passing through another vga, on my old i7 i was using the build in gpu just for the secondary monitor i could move the window of the game around with out any fps loss at all or even leave it hanging between 2 monitor s!
