    None of this is surprising.

  2. At least the cooler is a bit nicer than your average reference cooler.

Looks similiar to that HD 7990 multi gpu beast. It had the same 3 fan design.

US prices are without taxes, EU prices are always with taxes. So a direct conversion will never work. $699 might be 612€ today, but you can roughly add 20% for taxes on top of that, which puts it at 734.

  6. It does a bit. Weren't the 7990 coolers triple slot?

You know that Nvidia added compatibility for Free Sync now right? The only thing left in your reasoning is you don't like Nvidia now lol. And maybe just maybe your monitor isn't compatible but I bet it is. Availability might be interesting. Vega had major availability issues even before mining really went crazy on GPU pricing and availability.

Expect big markup on this card. Retailers are already licking their lips knowing that 5,000 cards will be available for the given time frame. I wouldn't be surprised to see this card selling for more like $800 or so.

  10. You are right, it was just the aib ones that had triple slot coolers. The reference was two.

Well, I did my research, and it seems it's actually a little bit more complex. You actually have to calculate the import price (which includes transport insurance and transport cost), add any special taxes on electronics, then see how much import tax has to be added (could be up to 150€ in Greece), which is directly related to the import price, and then add the VAT. so it's probably going to be closer to 950€. Frankly, this just isn't worth it.

I'm really not interested in cutted and low binned GPU. Give me the full chip.

    Close, binned MI50s.

Want the full chip? Pony up a few thousand dollars for an MI50 Instinct card.

And 1TB of memory bandwidth. The value is incredible if you do more than game on the desktop. Besides, to prevent this from being used for Scientific/AI/Machine learning, AMD will nerf the FP64 though it is said to still have higher FP64 than 2080/ti after gimping. It will also have PCIE 4.0 support removed. Only datacenter machine learning type functions can saturate the PCIE 3.0 bus today from a GPU standpoint.

Who knows, one day AMD may unlock the full fp64 for those that buy this. The new NVIDIA high ends will come with 11GB, so why not 5 more with 1TBs bandwidth. It is a niche, but one well worth $600 if you can put it to use.

I'm buying one. Do I need it? No. I'm getting it just for the technology for the price. Nerd purchase. I also think someone will take advantage of that 16GB and 1TBs bandwidth, whether it's a game developer or Adobe Creative Suite.

The consensus seems to be they're binned MI50s not MI60s but in either case, it's a lot of expensive technology for $699 compared to the 2080/ti. The 2080s are just now being discounted to $699 depending on the make/model.

    Heard.

Yup, just the one card I think.

Space filler. Though I wonder if they might still have some tweeks done before launch.

    MorganX Jesus dude multi-quote.

The reference cooler looks like it is good and most reports from the CES were that it worked well.

So you are saying they could, but why would they?

Cost. Maybe there will be few GPUs where enabling 60CUs is not an option. Then you get 56CUs, pair it with 4x 2GB HBM2. Priced at $600 and suddenly, it is more than competitive on gaming front.
