Hola. CPU: i3 2120. Mobo: Dell Optiplex 390. RAM: 8 GB Gskill Sniper 1866 MHz. GFX: MSI Geforce 1060 6GB GTX. PSU: 750 Watts. I have no issue running games on 1080 40-50 FPS. X4 Foundations runs 20 fps on 1080 but I get decent fps on 1440x900 which is 40 FPS, 30 in intense battle; high graphic settings. So... I am contemplating on getting Ryzen 3 2200g alongside with 8GB DDR4 ram. Is it worth the upgrade?
I think anything with 4 or more cores would help right now. a 1060 6gb should at least be doing 60fps at 1080p in really any modern title. But i agree that ryzen 2600 would be better. But i would try to go with 16gb of ram if at all possible.
I can only afford R3 2200G ATM. Is it a big leap forward from i3 2120 even if I have Geforce GTX 1060 6GB?
Did Hilbert do a benchmark on i3 2120 and R3 2200G? If anyone has these CPUs, please post the benchmark scores so I can make rational decision for my purchase.
Yes it will still be about 30 to 50 percent faster in games which relay more on single core performance,, multicore titles will blow it away
Very eerily identical to R3 2200G when paired with Geforce 1060 6GB. But Ryzen was able to maintain 60+ without dipping. i3 2120 + 1060 was able to go from 47-57 fps.
I am gonna shelf my upgrades for a bit. Too many games are being politically correct such as using the phrase "PRONOUNS", and too many games are copying Battle Royal - it's just procreating stupid, like Hunt Showdown which is TOTALLY unrelated to Battle Royal but the devs decided to do it regardless. This is become a fad for video game industry and it needs to stop. I'll stick with FFXIV for now.
I ran 3DMark (DirectX 12 edition). And the score is: i3 2120 + Geforce 1060 6GB: 3237 https://www.3dmark.com/spy/5725168 Ryzen 3 2200g + Geforce 1060 6GB: 3916 https://www.3dmark.com/spy/3424698 Not much difference. Feel free to correct me otherwise.
Thats quite a difference actually imo in games it could be 10 extra frames or more but by the looks of the score the 1060 is being choked by both cpu's and not forgetting the huge difference in ram speeds from ddr3 to ddr4
I will suggest you to get Ryzen 5 2600, also upgrade your RAM aleast with 8gb and get a good motherboard. For motherboard I will suggest you to get B450 or x470
